"I didn't take a break. Yes you haven't seen me in any film but it is not my doing. I read at least three or four scripts a week for the past five years. That is to show you how bad it is. I am very careful when it comes to what I take part in.
There is so much or nothing you can do to convince me. I have to love a story so that I can bring it to life. It is not a one man band. The story needs to entice. The character needs to be appealing and then, you are one with it. With that, it becomes easy to be a good actor. If I don't get a good script, I am not going on set. I haven't seen anything worth my while in years, that is the truth. I don't know who did what we did in the 90s. If you can't beat your last job, what is the point? You might as well take a bow but I am not bowing out yet" she said

I Am Dating A President Not Genevieve Nnaji- Says Ella Martins [Photos]
Benin Republic actress Ella Martins and Genevieve Nnaji were both accused last year of being lesbian partners a rumour which both of them quickly came out to debunk.
Ella has just granted Vanguard an interview telling how much the rumour hurt but ended up telling that she is currently dating a President and told how people accused her of dating former President Obasanjo…..please read for yourself.
When she was chatting with Potpourri recently through the Whatsapp social platform, the actress who would talk of no issue other than the allegation of lesbianism involving her and Genevieve, said she has known no peace since the story broke
You became popular in Nigeria after that allegation of lesbianism between you and Genevieve. How did that little scandal affect you and your career?
Yes, it has affected my emotional life, because everybody now believes I am in a relationship with Genny and my family is not happy about it. It has really affected my career and image at home.
Have you had any similar issue back home before then?
I have never been tagged that before. It is something that is completely new to me. There has never been a time I was accused of being a lesbian. One little thing happened about me and Genevieve Nnaji and everyone now believes I am a lesbian. It is very touching and depressing.
What actually happened between you and Genny that sparked the allegation?
Hmm, you know I speak more of French than English, so, it is a little hard for me to express myself fully. What happened is that Genny and I were in a club in Lagos and her phone got missing. Later, I think a paparazzi or someone got hold of it and started sharing some contents about me and Genny online. I don’t see anything abnormal in the pictures but people started talking that we must be lesbians and all.
What kind of pictures are you talking about?
As normal persons and friends, we do take normal pictures at home and in other places but I don’t know why the online magazine showed Genevieve and I kissing, I am surprised and don’t know where they got those pictures from.
So, you and Genevieve were never kissing each other in any pictures you took together?
We kissed, but it was nothing extraordinary, it was normal kiss between girls. I mean girls do kiss each other normally, even guys do too. When I was dating Fally Ipupa we used to kiss and now that we are separated and are good friends we still continue kissing like we used to. My fear is I receive strange calls saying that in a few days’ time they will be releasing more pictures about us.
You still received calls over the incident?
I am a very popular figure in my country and a lot of people are jealous of me. So many of them would like to see me go down and this may be a good excuse for them to start something.
When they call you on phone, do they ask for anything or sound like blackmailers?
No, just to say they will expose our dirty secret and I don’t have any dirty secret.
If you have no dirty secret why are you now scared?
You don’t understand, even the pictures they released online was worked on, adulterated to make it look different from the actual pictures. We kissed as normal girls, not as romantically or sexually as they projected in the pictures posted online.
What is the relationship between you and Genevieve Nnaji?
We have been good friends since 2004. We met when Kennis Music organised an award and since then we have been good friends. We talk often and whenever I am in Lagos we meet up and have fun as friends. I have had no peace since the pictures leaked online. Everybody now calls me Genny’s wife back home.
Sincerely, are you and Genevieve Nnaji sexually involved?
No, never. I am neither a lesbian nor is Genevieve. We are just two close friends, showing profound emotions for each other by kissing.
You said you once dated Fally Ipupa, or is it that you are heterosexual?
Please, please, I don’t know what you are talking about. How could I have dated Fally Ipupa and still be a lesbian. It just doesn’t add up. Ask Fally, I am very straight. If I am a lesbian, why hasn’t the story come out before? Why is it coming out now when it involves Genevieve? Don’t you see the handiwork of the devil in the whole business?
Do you also have a man you are currently dating?
Hmm. I am actually dating a President, but I prefer to keep it secret. In my country everybody once accused me of dating former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria.
Did you?
No, but they believe it 100 percent
You are very sexy. How do men generally react to your sexy figure?
People are crazy about me ! Many men are in love with me and dying to have me as a lover. Everybody loves me and they show it everyday. People just can’t get enough of Ella. They think they have seen all of me but there is more to show. I just came back from the United States of America where I attended a UNAIDS programme with the First Lady of Niger.
Have you ever done a show in Nigeria?
Yes, I did with Kennis Music. I have also acted alongside Tonto Dikeh, Shan George and Rita Dominic
So you act too?
Yes
Which films have you done?
Lost Paradise with Rita Dominic and Tricia Esiegbe. Gods Are Still not to Blame with Seun Akindele and others....
So, what do you want to tell your fans?
I want to use this medium to tell them that Ella Martins is not a lesbian. Please believe me. I’m a straight woman.

Nollywood Actress Genevieve Nnaji Tells CNN 'We Won't Stop Till Missing Schoolgirls Are Found"(VIDEO)
Yesterday, Nollywood star actress Genevieve Nnaji was interviewed by CNN's Max Foster, 8:30pm tonight, where she talked about our government's response to the Chibok schoolgirls' abduction.
Here's the full transcript from all she said. Meanwhile, CNN referred to Genny as the "Julia Roberts of Nigeria" and Max kept calling her Genevieve 'Nyangi'. lol.
Transcript:
Max Foster: Genevieve Nnaji is an actress, model and singer who has been raising awareness on the #BringBackOurGirls campaign. She told me they won't stop till the missing girls are found. Take a listen.
Genevieve: Everyone is involved. We are all mothers, we are all humans and these are young girls
that have been taken into captivity and uh.... we just felt that as.. some of us who have a bigger face and more recognizable in terms of being celebrities and having a large fan base, we thought it's our responsibility to help shed light and bring the fight to the forefront and stop this inhumane act.
Max Foster: There's been some criticism of the authorities in Nigeria that they were slow to react to this. What's your reading into that?
Genevieve: Um, for me I think it would be unfair to say our government was slow to react because no one knew whether they reacted or not. The thing is we weren't told, that's the problem, we didn't know if they were aware of the situation or not. So, the major problem people are having is that lack of communication between the government and the people. We just wanted them to, at least, react to us. And make it aware to our knowledge that they know what was going on, we knew there was a problem at hand, its just that lack of communication..
Max Foster: Has it improved now?
Genevieve: Well, it has improved a whole lot, Now we can see things being put in place, now we can see the efforts being made and again, that will be credited to the noise that has been made, towards the campaigning that's been made around the world, you know, the global community having an interest in this. So, we are grateful for all the attention. What it has done is create hope in a situation that seemed hopeless in the beginning.
Max Foster: What do you make of other countries offering military support of various forms. Is that something that you welcome or would you rather that the Nigerian authority deal with it themselves?
Genevieve: This has been going on way too long and um.... there's no shame in asking for help and in taking it. The truth is, terrorism is not a country's, it's not our problem, it's not a continent problem, it's a global issue and if everyone can come together and help fight it at every point, at any part of the world, as long as we act as one again. This is a breach of human rights, it's something that should concern each and everyone. So, it's welcome.
Max Foster: How has this affected Nigeria as a nation?
Genevieve: I think this situation is becoming a bit too close to home and this has nothing to do with gender, religion or whatever. This is a human right problem and we are all human and what is going on is very, you know, inhumane if you ask me. And what it has done now is given us that confidence to know that our voices are loud enough to heard all around the world and we won't stop.
Actress Genevieve Nnaji Clocks 35,pleads for Rescue of Missing School girls
Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji turned 35 today May 3. The Etisalat brand ambassador was born on May 3, 1979. Instead of celebrating herself, Genny as she is fondly called by close pals, is still grieving over the missing school girls in Borno state. In her birthday message, the Imo born actress begs the government to do everything possible to rescue the girls, as their abduction goes against everything Africans have fought for.
Read her message below:
- “I’ve always been of the belief that less words and more action speaks greater volumes. But in this case of no foreseen action, I believe some talking is in order. The abduction of these young girls goes against everything that we as Africans fought for, for so many years. What we as Nigerians have been faced with and have been fighting over these past years.
“Not to mention what we women and mothers still fight against till this very day. Kidnapping, abduction, slavery, child bride and the complete disrespect and disregard for human life and rights is ..in my opinion, every wrong that seems to be getting away here. Reports say that our babies are being shipped off to neighboring countries, distributed and married off.
“How could this be when we have appointed men to protect us? Why are we called giants if we can’t trample over ants? Enough of these setbacks!! There are way too many distractions for this Nation to achieve its true potential. It is time to respond and to act!!
I know it’s not easy being a leader of a country but like some people love to point out to me.. just when they are about to sympathize with the challenges that comes with being in my position and then remember the perks, YOU KNOW WHAT YOU SIGNED UP FOR. Pls we implore, we plead and we beg,.. Save our girls! Help bring the girls back home by doing as little as signing this petition,” she wrote.

See How Ibinabo Reconciled Omotola And Genevieve
Fans of two of Nollywood’s biggest actresses Omotola Jalade Ekeinde and Genevieve Nnaji, may lately be surprised that the two perceived arch rivals are now getting along with each other like never before.
Even though both actresses have denied being enemies before now, sources close to them have severally confirmed to Nigeriafilms.com that the two really don’t too get along with each other.
It is true that the duo have acted in movies as sisters more than any other ‘rivals’ or actresses in Nollywood, but sources maintained to us that they only get along when they are in front of cameras but always return to status quo immediately after they get behind the cameras.
But recently, the two have been publicly telling the world that they are best of friends.
First, it was at Ibinabo’s birthday held in Lagos in January. Also, at Omotola’s surprise birthday in March, they both got together. At the last AMVCA, Omosexy and Genny, as both are fondly called, got along and even made jest of each other.
The person behind all these is Ibinabo Fiberesima, the AGN president.
Our reliable source told us that Ibinabo has been instrumental in bringing these two heavyweights together. Like what she promised during her campaign period that she would unite Nollywood, our source said she has been working tirelessly to fulfil that promise.
“A reconciliation meeting was held where Ibinabo appealed to both Omotola and Genevieve to embrace each other as sisters and not as colleagues,” our source said.
