The men of the Ayeso Police division in Ilesa, Osun State, are trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the killing of a 20-year-old man, Jacob Afolabi, who was allegedly beheaded and had his private part chopped off by his closest friend, Tobi Ojo for money-making ritual purposes.
Afolabi, who is among the candidates writing the ongoing West Africa Examination Council (WAEC), was found lifeless in a suck-away belonging to an 89 year-old herbalist, Olorunfemi Fagbemi whom Ojo employed to do the money ritual for him.
It was gathered that father of the late Jacob abducted Ojo four years ago to be training him in addition to sponsoring his secondary school education until the ugly incident. Pa Afolabi popularly known as Kako raised an alarm that his son was missing last Friday and started searching for him.
After a three-day extensive search for his son, Pa Afolabi then reported Jacob’s disappearance at the Ayeso Police division in Ilesa.
On getting the tip, a team of policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Musiliu Ishola Doga, swung into action to unravel the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the young man.
Pa. Afolabi was said to have informed the police around 11:30 am yesterday that he saw his son with his friend (Ojo) on Friday which prompted the police to arrest Ojo who after interrogation, confessed that he took Ojo to another friend called Femi for money ritual.
However, Ojo who lives in Ilesa took the police to Oke-Eso area in Ilesa in search of Femi but Femi was nowhere to be found.
Consequently, Ojo decided to take the police to the house of the octogenarian herbalist at Stadium area in Ilesa where the already decomposed headless body of Jacob was found in a suck-away while his private part and some other organs had been removed.
Ojo who said he was into car washing alongside his friend, Jacob after school hours, admitting that it was true he wanted to do money ritual but his friend had agreed to join him.
“A friend called Femi introduced me to the herbalist and when we got to the herbalist house, he told us (Ojo and Jacob) that the oracle had revealed that the late Jacob was the one they chose for the ritual for us to get rich. So, I left Jacob there and when I went back the following day to check on Jacob, it was the rotten body of Jacob the herbalist showed me in a suck away”, he said.
Meanwhile, the body of Jacob has been deposited at the mortuary of Wesley Guild Hospital in Ilesa while Ojo and Pa. Fagbemi are in police custody. It was gathered that Femi had fled.
