‘FG spent N60bn on schools in two years’

Federal Government has spent over N60billion building schools, universities and rehabilitating polytechnics in the last two years, Education Minister Professor Ruqayyatu Rufa’i said yesterday. She gave the breakdown at the pubic presentation of the 4-year Strategic Plan for the Development of the Education in Abuja. 

 She said 102 schools under the Almajiri Education Programme are being constructed in the six geo-political zones at the cost of over N11bn and special schools for girls education at the cost of N2bn. N12.4bn has been provided for equipping of laboratories in 51 state and Federal Government polytechnics while N2.6bn would be used to rehabilitate laboratories.

 The nine new federal universities were also given N1.5billion each for facilities at their take-off sites with additional N18bn provided to commence work at their permanent sites.
