Nigerian Army- Beware Of Campaign Of Calumny By Members Of Islamic Movement Of Nigeria

Press release by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations on Dec. 23.
"The Nigerian Army is aware of clandestine campaign of calumny and misinformation on the incident of 12 December 2015 in Zaria by a group of high ranking members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) led by one Doctor Abdullahi Danladi, a Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
Earlier today he was at the University soliciting for support and telling lies about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the incident itself. He also went further to make false and unfounded allegations of casualty figures and desecration of burial grounds. It is preposterous and shows lack of concern and respect for peace and tranquility.

So much as the Nigerian Army has reported the matter before the appropriate agencies and action is being taken, it would not sit back and allow some mischievous elements in the society to further create unnecessary tension and disaffection in the society.
This attitude will not be tolerated where people abuse their privileged position to mislead the public, create disaffection.

Therefore, Nigerians and indeed all well meaning people are please enjoined to be patient and await the outcome of the various enquiries instituted by various government and Non-governmental agencies.
Additionally, Doctor Abdullahi Danladi and like minded individuals should be warned to desist from telling lies and misrepresentation of facts capable of misleading the general public"

Nigerian Army's Statement On Zaria Clash

Following the clash between detachment of the Nigerian Army and members of the Shiite group on Saturday in Zaria, the Nigerian Army has released a statement yesterday Sunday through the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman.  in regards to Saturday's clash.Read the statement below....
"Saturday's incident involving clashes between detachments of the Nigerian Army, accompanying the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TY Buratai and followers of Sheikh Ibrahim El Zak-Zaky, suspected to be members of the Shiite Sect in Zaria, leading to loss of lives as a result of the Shiite group members’ blocking roads and not allowing other passers-by to go about their lawful businesses and activities, was most unfortunate.

The Nigerian Constitution guarantees the rights of any group of persons and Sheikh El Zak Zaky's followers to hold a peaceful march or procession unhindered, but it also guarantees other people's rights of way on public highways. It is important to note that over the years this group has subjected ordinary citizens using public roads to untold hardship, delays, threats and disruption simply because they insist on using public space irrespective of inconvenience and hardship on other law abiding citizens and motorists. This cannot be tolerated and must stop!

As soon as order is restored to the situation in Zaria city and its environs, the Police will conduct an enquiry and the public will be informed. In the meantime, the public is advised to go about their lawful business and report any suspicious persons or incidents to the police."

Troops of 3 Division Nigerian Army intercepted and arrested some kingpins of Boko Haram.
The men were found with hard drugs and other stimulants. A statement by the spokesperson of the Nigerian army, Sani Usman, said the men were arrested at Geidam local government in Borno state. See more photos of the men arrested and a press statement below

"You will recall that sometimes ago we reported that ironically most of the Boko Haram terrorists captured by Nigerian military cannot read the Holy Qur’an, some of them cannot even recite the first chapter- Suratuh Al-Fatiha and yet they claimed they wanted to establish an ‘Islamic State’.  When the Nigerian military captured their bases and training camps, they never found Qur’an or other Islamic books, what were mostly found were ammunition, local charms, condoms and all sorts of drugs, including sex enhancing ones in their enclaves. The arrest of these drug suppliers has reinforced that fact, more so as they have been making very useful statements. The Nigerian Army would continue to do its best in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in our country in order to make Nigeria safe and secure. This however, requires continuous support and cooperation of the public. We always welcome and appreciate information that could lead to the arrest and pre-empting of Boko Haram terrorists and other criminal elements in the society.”the statement read.

Shocking Revelation : The Last Time Weapons Were Bought For The Nigerian Army Was in 2006 - Alex Badeh(VIDEO)

How true could this be? despite the insurgence. The Immediate past Chief of Defence staff, Alex Badeh is not done talking about the lack of equipment in the Nigerian army.
In an interview with Channels TV, Alex Badeh said the last time the Nigerian army received new equipment was in 2006 and that the Nigerian military flies the oldest fighter jets in the whole world. He's now saying all this after he was removed as Chief of Defence Staff.

"We found out that we had fifth columnist in the military that were leaking information to terrorist and then we also had challenges of serviceable equipment. If I go down memory lane, I think the last time any piece of equipment was bought for the Nigerian army was in 2006 and how many were they? They were few. In fact they were few and if we go way back to 1993, from then on, soldiers were not allowed to even go to range to go and practice. So a soldier that is not practicing how to use his gun, what kind of military are you going to have? So those were the challenges we had so when we were faced with Boko Haram, it became a very big challenge. We have been trying to increase the military by ourselves. You don't give me budget and say go and build barracks. Barracks is capital intensive. So even if we recruit so many people in the military now, we don't have where to house them. So it is a challenge too that government must face. Government must build barracks for us so that we can recruit more. For a population of over 170 million, what we have in Nigeria can not be adequate enough to protect us So those were the challenges we had. Inadequate equipment, obsolete equipment. In fact we are the ones that are flying the oldest fighter aeroplanes in the whole world. Alpha jets we bought them in 1981. That is the backbone of our operations in the Northeast" he said

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen.  According to him, the ceremony was to honour some of their colleagues who were retiring after serving meritoriously.

He said: "In the army it was a thing of pride to have joined the army, serve in the army and retire meritoriously in sound health. Service in the military is service to humanity because it is only the profession that you pay the supreme price.

"As long as we have conflict that will demand the military involved  some of us  are ready to pay the supreme price as that is what service in the army is all about".

"The only way to surmount the roughness of the profession, because it is rough most of the time, is by training and being professional on the job, this is sacrifice that requires loyalty, commitment and hard work", he added.

He said: "There is indeed no substitute to sound professionalism in the conduct of your duties, no matter its nature or degree of importance. The current security challenge that the Nigerian Army currently faces comes to mind as we retired officers follow the trend of events that affect our constituency-the military.

"It is heart-warning however, to note that very significant progress has been made in the fight against terrorism.

The army must therefore sustain the current momentum and put this difficult moment of our national history behind us".

Bassey commended the Chief of Army Staff and all personnel of the Army for the accomplishment and assured them of the retired officers’ support always.

He reminded the officers to remain loyal and to be extra vigilant always adding that they must demonstrate total commitment to their duty to the nation irrespective of the circumstances.

Bassey further stated that the retired officers should consider themselves fortunate to have retired from the service with sound health.

Going down memory lane, he noted, you will recollect that some of our colleagues paid the supreme sacrifice along the line under various circumstances, all in the service of our dear nation.
