Dear Poster,do you have a choice? There had been series of complains to the governors office; he's reply is always like Jonathan, we have our people looking critically into the matter; the difference is Fashola speaks good English with Vocabularies,so most of us take him serious; Lagos has not seized being the chop-i-chop state, from lekki toll gate to drivers licence; when this guys even see that. you have. the new drivers licence, some go vex ask you for fire-estinguisher;nothing seems to work except there is money involved constantly then it works great; be thankful that you have a car and live this people to Chop; i remember getting the new plate number and in less than 3months all the ink just wiped out effortlessly, what will you do-Nothing because Nigeria won't listen;"na where them dey work;na there dem dey chop"

According the reports, the victims were accused of driving pass red light ,threatened with fire and brimstone and were asked to pay N20,000. Their car papers were seized the car but after much begging, they could only afford  N2000. The Inspector laughed, collected the money, returned the paper and they drove off. You will notice the recording started late due to fear but you can clearly see where the Inspector collected the N2k and released the papers.

will there ever be an end to this?seems to be getting worse even with all the recent recordings by Lagosians.

Nigeria EFCC agents jailed for taking bribes

Two anti-corruption agents in Nigeria have been given five-year prison terms for accepting bribes.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said its officers had been found guilty of asking for about $630 (£390) from a politician to stop a supposed investigation.

He informed the EFCC which organised a sting operation to catch the agents.

The EFCC has faced criticism in its attempts to tackle what some see as entrenched high-level fraud in Nigeria.

Rights groups say the commission, set up in 2002 - three years after military rule, has often been under the influence of politicians.

In a statement, the EFCC said Douglas William and Abba Ishaku were arrested in October 2010 after trying to bribe Kullima Kachalla, the chairman of a local government administration in Borno state.

The agents had told the politician they would destroy documentation to launch an alleged investigation into his mismanagement of public funds.

During the sting operation, the court heard how Mr Kachalla brought the money to the EFCC's office in the capital, Abuja.

"It was in the course of the receipt of the money that the two staff were arrested and subsequently arraigned," the EFCC statement said.

"In his ruling, Justice [Abubakar] Umar said because the convicts have suffered enough humiliation, their sentence should start from the date of their arraignment," the commission said.

BBC Nigeria correspondent Will Ross says that, to many Nigerians this is yet another case to prove that when it comes to corruption, only relatively minor cases are ever dealt with.

After all what is $630 compared to the billions of dollars that are believed to have been stolen in a fuel subsidy scam, he says.

Several fuel traders are due in court in connection with the scam but once again they are small players, our correspondent notes.

Presidential Election Bribery: Kutigi denies Wikileaks report

Kutigi
Former Chief Justice of the Federation of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Idris Kutigi, has denied the report posted on the Wikileaks’ website and published by a national newspaper that he took or rejected bribes from agents of the Federal Government to sway the 2007 presidential election Supreme Court judgment in favour of a particular candidate.

Wikileaks had in its report, said: “Kutigi appears to be reacting strongly to several credibly reported attempts to sideline him or to co-opt him for political purposes. A member of the chief justice’s staff told PolCouns that the presidency had attempted to bribe Kutigi twice before the elections.

”According to the same source, the second attempt came when the president’s former special adviser, Chief Andy Uba, visited Kutigi’s office on April 10 accompanied by Anambra businessman Emeka Offor.

”The aide says the two offered Kutigi N200 million to drop the suit by Atiku and leave him off the ballot,” the report had said.

But Kutigi denied the allegations, saying. “It’s not true.”

He told an online publication, yesterday, “Neither the Etsu Nupe, Dr. Andy Uba nor Chief Emeka Offor ever brought any bribe to me.

”No one from government or anywhere offered me any bribe. I don’t know where they got this story. Please I am not a politician. I am in my village now,” he added.
