A 35-year-old driver, Saheed Raheem has been remanded in prison by the Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court sitting at Isabo on Tuesday 10th September, for allegedly attempting to kidnap his passenger.
The police prosecutor, ASP Paul Etusi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on August 31st, at about 8 p.m. at Orile-Ilugun in Abeokuta.
He said the accused attempted to kidnap his passenger, one Taiwo Kazeem, who boarded his taxi cab from Lagos to Abeokuta.
Mr. Etusi said the accused had veered off the expressway into a bush path and attempted to tie the victim before he was rescued by some farmers.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the charge of attempted kidnap leveled against him.
