Femi Fani-Kayode Finally Speaks On His Acquittal, Changes Name

Former aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has finally come out to speak about his acquittal in the money laundering trial that lasted for seven years.

After Ofili-Ajumogobia finally discharged and acquitted the former minister on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode has come out now to describe the trial as "politically-motivated", and in his speech, thanks the judiciary for dispensing justice without fear or favour.

His speech after the jump:

"I am delighted, humbled and relieved by this verdict. In the last seven years, I have been subjected to the most malicious, vicious, sinister, well-orchestrated, insidious and devastating form of political persecution and wickedness. The whole process almost destroyed my life, my family, my reputation, my health and my career. I thank God for his goodness, his mercy and for the fact that today, the whole nightmare has finally come to an end.

Initially, I was accused of stealing N19.5bn of public funds when I was minister of aviation. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of stealing N6.5bn. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of laundering N200m. It was thrown out by the courts. Then I was accused of laundering N99m. It was thrown out by the courts. Finally, I was accused of laundering N1m and N1.1m respectively, and today, both of these charges have also been thrown out by the courts

Today, the 1st of July 2015, seven years to the day from that day when I was first arrested and first put into detention, I have been discharged and acquitted of all remaining charges by the courts. As a mark of honor and respect for the Lord and as an everlasting testimony of my love for and dedication to him, I wish to make it known to the Nigerian public that as from today my name will be changed.

It will no longer be David Oluwafemi Fani-Kayode but instead, it shall be David Oluwafemi Olukayode. Olukayode means “the Lord has brought me joy” and today he has done precisely that. As from this day, in honor of him and as a small tribute to my love for and total dependance on Him, that shall remain my family name. Once again, I give thanks to God for all that has happened to me and for this great deliverance. To him be all the glory.

Kayode was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly laundering about N100 million while he was the minister of culture and tourism and later, the minister of aviation in 2008.

A federal High court sitting in Lagos State, today discharged and acquitted former Aviation Minister Femi Fani Kayode of money laundering charges leveled against him by the EFCC.

Delivering her judgement, the presiding judge, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, said the charges brought against Fani-Kayode was 'feeble' and EFCC failed to provide 'copious evidence' that linked him to money laundering.

Fani-Kayode's trial began in 2008 when he was accused of laundering about N100 million while he was minister of culture and tourism and later Aviation minister. The money was later reduced to N2.1million in Nov. 2014 after the court dismissed 38 of the 40-count charge leveled against him. Above is a photo of him during a prayer session by friends and family.

Fani-Kayode Blast APC For Alleging That President Jonathan Is Working To Rig Lagos Governorship Polls

Femi Fani-Kayode has released a statement blasting the APC for alleging that President Jonathan was in Lagos to rig the state governorship election in favor of PDP's Jimi Agbaje. The statement below..

"It is not true that the President has any rigging plan for Lagos and neither do we need any such plan because our party is very strong there. The problem that the APC has and the reason that they make such asinine and stupid allegations is because they actually believe that they own Lagos State and all those that live there.

They are now in a state of panic because for the first time in 16 years, they are facing a formidable challenge and they know that Jimi Agbaje of the PDP is likely to win. The truth is that there was no secret meeting in which rigging was planned by the President and neither is it true that materials were smuggled in to rig Lagos State. Jonathan conceded defeat and congratulated Buhari even though there were many questions about the card readers, the role of INEC and the so-called votes that APC allegedly won in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Kaduna and in one or two other places in the North. The figures for the APC were inflated in those states whilst the votes that Jonathan scored  were purposely suppressed and reduced in places like Abia and other parts of the east by INEC. This is the bitter truth even though many people are reluctant to say it or admit it. Till today, many of us are wondering what really happened to the INEC commissioner in Kano and whether it is true that he and his whole family were murdered after he privately expressed his misgivings and regrets about inflating the figures for the APC during the presidential elections. Rather than spitting in Jonathan’s face and rejecting his friendly handshake by accusing him of plotting to rig Lagos, the APC should keep their mouths shut and bury their heads in shame for what they and their friends in INEC did during the presidential election.” the statement read

Below is a Press statement from the director of Media and publicity, PDP presidential campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode, he claims the PDP are ahead in the ongoing presidential race by at least 2-3 million votes. Read...

We wish to take this opportunity to make it clear to the Nigerian public that according to the figures made available to us, we are ahead in the presidential elections by at least two to three million votes.

We have our own Situation Room and we have collated all our figures from the various polling booths, wards, local government areas and states in the Federation.

Despite the propaganda of the opposition, we are confident of victory.  They and all other stakeholders can be rest assured that we will accept nothing less than the announcement of an election result that is truthful and that reflects the true will of the Nigerian people.

Any attempt to manipulate figures or to rig us out from any quarter will be firmly resisted.

I thank you for your attention.

"Disregard Election Results Flying Around, PDP Is Winning In 23 States"- Fani-Kayode Says

Below is the text of a press conference by the director of media and publicity, PDP, presidential campaign organization, Chief Femi Fani Kayode today, discrediting all the announced results(the ones the PDP lost specifically)...

We are deeply concerned by the level of disinformation and falsehood that is being peddled around by the friends of the opposition in the media and particularly their paid agents and associates on the social media about the results of Saturdays elections. Since yesterday afternoon they have been releasing fake results and they have been attempting to mislead the Nigerian people and our friends in the international community.  The public have been inundated with lie after lie about the APC's so-called victories in virtually every single polling booth, ward, local government area and state in the country. This is not only nonsensical but it is also far-fetched, absurd and childish.

Two opposition media houses and their associates in the social media went as far as to shamelessly claim that President Goodluck Jonathan lost in my polling unit and in my ward in Ile-Ife, when in actual fact the President not only won in my polling booth and ward but he also won in virtually every other ward in the four local government areas of Ile Ife in Osun state where I come from.

The dirty lies that these two media houses have told is just one example of the gross and irresponsible mendacities and falsehood that the agents and associates of the APC habitually enjoy peddling. As we have always said, they are a party of liars that are led and inspired by a small cabalistic cult of shameful deceivers, liars and cheap propaganda merchants. In them there is no truth and lying is their second nature and natural habitat.

The APC, through their agents in the media, also indulged in many other fanciful and vain mendacities about many other PDP leaders.  For example they claimed that Senator Musiliu Obanikoro who is presently the Honorable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Senator Iyiola Omisore, the leader of our party in Osun state, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, the Governor of Ondo state, Senator David Mark, the Senate President, and so many other of our highly esteemed and respected leaders also lost their polling units and wards to General Muhammadu Buhari and the APC candidates for the various elections.

Needless to say these claims by the APC are not only false but they are also absurd and nauseating. Such mendacities are indicative of the fact that they have lost touch with reality as we have always suspected. As a matter of fact we are surprised that they didn't claim that the President himself also lost in his polling unit and  ward and that he in fact voted for Buhari rather than for himself. Such is their level of depravity and deceit that they will manufacture any lie and assert any falsehood just to gain an edge and feed their vain delusions.

The lies they have told about the so-called victory of Buhari in Ile Ife, Osun state is particularly distasteful because not only has Jonathan appeared to have won in Ile-Ife but our PDP candidate for the Federal House of Representatives in that constituency, Mr. Albert Adeogun, appears to have won the election hands down and defeated Mr. Rotimi Makinde of the APC, who is the sitting member of the Federal House of Representatives. Our candidate for the House of Representatives in Ilesa in the same senatorial district, Mr. Wole Oke, appears to have won his election as well which is another major blow for the APC in Osun state.

Instead of acknowledging these monumental and devastating losses of some of their leading members, the APC, in their habitual manner simply continue to bury their small heads in the ground like the proverbial ostrich, live in denial and peddle lies and falsehood. It is time that they were called to order. The lies of the APC must be ignored and treated with the contempt and disdain that they deserve.

The reports that we are getting from the field is that our candidate is doing very well in the south and north central and that we are making very strong inroads into various states in the core north. The motive for the lies and disinformation of the APC is to create high expectations for their supporters so that when the real results come out and they are announced by INEC, and when those real results do not tally with the fake results that the APC have told their agents and friends to release, they will begin to run riot, create havoc and kill people.

This is irresponsible and dangerous and we hereby warn the APC and their agents in the media to stop spreading falsehood and telling dangerous lies. We also call on the security agencies to be vigilant because when the truth of their defeat finally dawns on them the APC and Buhari will not take it very lightly. We should all patiently wait for INEC to release the official results of all the elections and until then we call on our supporters and party members to hold their heads up high, to remain confident and strong and to hold their peace.

Though it is undoubtedly a close race we at the PDPCO are cautiously confident and we are very optimistic of total victory despite the desperation, lies and disinformation of the APC. At the end of the day we have no doubt that President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP shall prevail.

We are constrained to conclude this short briefing by commenting on two issues that are also a matter of grave concern to us. First of all it has been brought to our attention that hundreds of thousands of underage voters were allowed to vote by INEC officials in many parts of the north during Saturday's elections.

The pictures of these underage voters, who are APC supporters and many of whom are not even Nigerians but were drafted across our northern borders just to vote, are all over the internet. These pictures show the children actually giving their thumb prints and voting in the elections on Saturday. This is unacceptable to us and it needs to be explained by INEC. We await further clarification from them about it and failing that we shall revisit the issue in a very forceful and precise manner at a later stage.

The other area that needs clarification and an explanation from INEC and which gives us deep concern is the situation that we have found ourselves in when it comes to the issue of card readers. We warned about this right from the outset and we expressed our reservations about their usage but we were ignored and even criticised by many at the time for doing so. With the shameful and abysmal performance of the card readers during Saturday's polls we believe that we have been vindicated and that our earlier concerns have proved to be legitimate and valid. Sadly the damage that the failure of the  card readers has caused to the fortunes of our supporters and party is immense.

Many of our supporters were disenfranchised and were unable to get accreditation or to vote as a consequence of the card reader situation and it is curious that most of the problems associated with card readers only took place in areas and states that are the traditional strongholds of President Jonathan and the PDP. Was this a mere coincidence or was it contrived?  That is the million dollar question. We shall speak more about this and other matters after the final results have been announced by INEC. Until then we shall hold our peace.

We use this medium to call on our friends in the social media, the party faithful and all President Goodluck Joanthan Support Groups not to remain silent in the face of these shenanigans. They should speak out on what they know about the propaganda and falsehood of the opposition APC. They should not be intimidated at all by the opposition’s desperate and reprehensible antics. They should set the record straight and not allow themselves to be robbed of a well-earned victory.

As we speak now, we are winning in 23 states and we have 64 percent while the APC is winning in 14 states and has 36 percent.  These results are subject to confirmation by the Independent National Electoral Commission.  However, we are certain of what we are saying because we have information from our agents in every polling unit nationwide.  No one must test our will by attempting to change these results and the APC should desist from pushing this nation to the brink of fire, chaos and destruction with their dirty lies and propaganda.

Patience Jonathan Is Right, Buhari Is Brain-dead - Fani Kayode Says

Femi Fani-Kayode, the spokesperson of the PDP Presidential campaign organization, has come out to defend the recent remarks by first lady Patience Jonathan, that APC Presidential candidate, Gen Buhari is old and brain dead.

At a press conference in Abuja today, Fani-Kayode said Mrs Jonathan only spoken the bitter truth...

"The First Lady has spoken in a courageous and forthright manner and, most important of all, she has spoken the bitter truth. Instead of crying like spoilt little brats and complaining, the APC and the Buhari Campaign Organisation should live with that bitter truth and leave her alone. She has every right to express herself in any way that she deems fit and she is entitled to her opinion.

This is especially so given the fact that her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, is in the presidential race. This is a man that said that he would scrap the office of the First Lady if he is elected President. If he is not ready to face public scrutiny and criticism for his often times irresponsible, retrogressive, nonsensical and asinine views, he should quit the presidential race and consider retiring from politics. Our counsel to the APC is as follows: leave the First Lady alone or prepare yourselves for a relentless verbal blitzkrieg, the likes of which you have never seen before.” he said

Femi Fani Kayode also speaks of the newly signed Anti-gay law

Femi Fani Koyode seems to be against the anti-gay law too.Since President GEJ signed the anti- gay law into enactment, there have been various reports from different parts of the countries of the mixed reactions from Nigerians.

Why some Nigerians are saying it was a good move, the majority seems to believe it was a backward move and there was there no need to deprive people the freedom to choose their sexual orientation and preferences. Whatever your opinion is, drop a comment below

Femi Fani-Kayode Withdraws Comments On Bianca Ojukwu

A former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has withdrawn the statement credited to him that he had an intimate relationship with the wife of the late Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain, Mrs. Bianca Ojukwu.

Fani-Kayode, in a statement by his lawyer, Mr. Akinola Babatunde Rotimi, however, said the claim by Bianca that they were not friends and had never met was ‘patently false’.

The former minister insisted that he knew Bianca in the early mid-80s when he was a student at the London and Cambridge Universities respectively. He noted that they were good friends at the time and had a few mutual friends who are still alive till date.

The statement stated that though he had not seen Bianca for over 25 years, he spoke to her on the phone when her husband passed on last year. Fani-Kayode had in an article titled: ‘Neither a Tribalist Nor a Hater,’ published in the Leadership Newspaper of Augusts 16 edition to defend himself over his write-up on the relocation of some Igbo to Anambra State by the Lagos State Government, alleging that he had “a long standing and intimate relationship with Bianca Onoh.”

But Bianca had through an advertorial published in some national newspapers, demanded an apology and a complete retraction of the statement within seven days or she would institute a legal action against the former minister.

The Fani-Kayode statement read: “Our client knew Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu in the early to mid-80′s when he was a student at London University and Cambridge University respectively.

“They were good friends at the time and they had a few mutual friends who are still alive today. The bizarre, absurd and inexplicable assertion that they were not friends and that Ambassador Ojukwu has never met our client is patently false.
“Though he has not seen her for over 25 years, he spoke to her on the phone when her husband passed on last year. As our client said earlier through his press secretary, some of the words he used to describe his friendship with her in his article titled: ‘A Word For Those Who Call Me A Tribalist’ were indiscreet. He hereby withdraws them.”

THISDAY also gathered from sources close to Fani-Kayode that the former aviation minister was making efforts through emissaries close to Bianca to reach out to her to resolve the disagreement.
The sources said the former minister was concerned that the issue had degenerated and would want a resolution on the misunderstanding.

Femi Fani Kayode Responds To Bianca Ojukwu's Threat To Sue Him

Former Aviation Minister, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has responded to Bianca Ojukwu's threat to sue him for saying he had an intimate relationship with her.

Chief Femi Fani Kayode responded via his spokesperson, Mr Bisi Lawal.

This morning Cheif Femi Fani-Kayode woke up to find a letter that was published as an advertorial in Thisday Newspaper purportedly by Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu's lawyer threatening to sue him for mentioning her in his article and claiming that she has never met him before.
She also said that he was being malicious. The matter has of course been referred to Chief Fani-Kayode's lawyers who will now take it up.

Ordinarily he would have not have said a word about this matter because he sympathizes with her for whatever she may have been going through.
However now that she has put it in the public realm Chief Fani-Kayode is compelled to formally respond. To the assertion that he never knew her and that they were never friends he says this is false and he asks why would he lie? The public evidence is to the contrary. Chief Fani-Kayode would not want to say anything to embarrass her because that would be ungentlemanly.

He sympathizes with her delicate situation and once again he expresses his regrets about the fact that his statement about her was misconstrued. We shall just leave it at that.

Signed by Mr. Bisi Lawal on behalf of Femi Fani Kayode

You Are A ‘Yoruba B*sta*d’ – Regina Askia blasts Fani Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani Kayode who took to twitter to prove he is not a tribalist by saying he once dated Igbo ladies, including Bianca Ojukwu and several Igbo women has come under heavy criticism.

Regina Askia Calls Femi Fani Kayode A Yoruba B*st*rd For Claiming He Dated Bianca Ojukwu and Igbo Women Former Nollywood actress Regina Askia has lend her voice to blame ex-Nigerian minister Femi Fani Kayode over an explanatory article he wrote about the Igbos yesterday.

In this lengthy letter, the former beauty queen called Femi Fani Kayode a drug addict and a Yoruba bastard for claiming he once dated Bianca Ojukwu and several Igbo women. She also blamed Igbo ladies and Bianca Ojukwu for having sex with him.

I’ve Just Been Told That Having Sex With An Igbo Woman Is A Great Accomplishment!!! After reading another hard-drug-influenced-essay by the Yoruba idiot parading himself as Femi Fani-Kayode, Ex-Minister of the Nigerian Federation, I felt there was no need to blame him for giving us another reason why his family members should as a matter of urgency, BUNDLE HIM BACK TO A REHAB! No! I don’t blame Femi Fani-Kayode for having a fun-filled day telling us how he ‘breezed’ through Bianca Onoh before our very revered Eze-Igbo married her.

I blame Bianca Onoh , Chioma Anasoh & Adaobi Uchegbu for being naive or to have rather stooped so low to have intimate relationship with a Yoruba rascal/urchin/idiot whom i’m very sure was on heavy use of cocaine (and still is) at the time! Were Bianca, Chioma & Adaobi blind to Femi’s madness/drug-addiction or maybe he flashed his Ministerial/Ex-Ministerial portfolio to entice them? This is the first time a former public figure (I blame Former President Obasanjo for giving him that privilege) has preferred to reel out the names of women he had sex with, in a bid to show-off how he has been able to conquer tribalism in Nigeria or maybe trying to tell others he has been able to made love with one of the prettiest ex beauty queens another tribe may boast of, like Bianca Ojukwu (Nee Onoh) of the Igbo tribe.

Some persons have advised that Femi Fani-Kayode should be ignored due to his MENTAL INSTABILITY but i say NO to it! I will not ignore him because when a mad-man chases one into his house & still want to exhibit that madness there, the owner of the house will definitely react except he doesn’t value his house! This has taken a tribal angle & its such a shame that many Yorubas have been applauding Fani-Kayode’s spiteful comments against the Igbo.

I may not want to generalize the behavioural disorders of even the average Yoruba, but i want to use this ample opportunity to remind our single Igbo sisters that if “He” is not Igbo, He can’t be like an Igbo-man who won’t be so ridiculous to think that giving us some of the names of our ladies he had sex with makes him a superman, as Femi Kayode must be ‘thinking’ in his fool’s paradise.

Right now in Nigeria, the likes of a Yoruba bastard like Femi Fani-Kayode have proved that Igbo women should think “wisely” in making choices as regards whom they allow ‘ACCESS’ to their much fancied bodies.

An Igboman would NEVER do what Femi Fani-Kayode did with the names of Bianca Ojukwu (Nee Onoh), PDP’s Adaobi Uchegbu & the relatively unknown Chioma Anasoh or even women from other tribes.

He typically exhibited behavioural disorder of the Yorubas, which is to them, a normal way of life.

What a shame! Bianca Ojukwu & the other two ladies should as a matter of urgency, reply Femi Fani-Kayode’s show of lunacy, stupidity, foolishness, infantile reasoning & utter disrespect for them! Femi Fani-Kayode consciously & gladly made a spiteful remark of Igbo women & our women should take the fight to him in a very deserving impudent manner! I am waiting for the responses by Bianca, Adaobi & Chioma.

By the way, I never knew men from other tribes take having sex with an Igbo lady as a great feat… Bianca & others should hold their heads high up.
