Buhari slams military for hiring foreign mecenaries to fight Boko Haram

We all saw the video clips released showing foreign mecenaries help to bombard Boko haram strong hold aerially while Nigeria soldiers attacked from the ground. Despite the success of the mission, many Nigerians are appalled the army couldn't carry out such attacks on the their own .
President-elect Buhari has berated the military for enlisting foreign mercenaries to fight Boko Haram.
According to Vanguard, he spoke in Kaduna while hosting the National Executive Council of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF.
The military has never been so incapacitated like now. It is a shame that the Military cannot secure 14 out of the 774 local governments in the country.
“What is more worrisome is the fact that Nigeria’s military has to rely on South African mercenaries before it could gain recent success in the war against Boko Haram. This situation is shameful and unacceptable.
“My administration will concentrate on three major areas on assumption of office, that is insecurity, the economy/unemployment and corruption. We will ensure we nip insecurity in the bud.”

‘I Won’t Appoint PDP Defectors Into My Cabinet'' – Buhari Says

Amidst growing apprehension over the mass defections to the All Progressives Congress, APC, by many notable members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, has said the party has nothing to fear over the mass defection into the party.

Buhari said during an interaction with journalists in his Daura residence on Saturday:
“I have no fears of PDP defectors.”
According to him, the PDP chieftains would have very little influence in the APC government, adding that the PDP bigwigs will be wise enough not to jostle for positions in the new government.
“The people who are defecting will only have influence in their constituencies. Since
their constituencies are now controlled by the APC, their influence is, therefore, limited.
“I hope the people that are defecting will accept the fact that they are joining the people who succeeded. So, I don’t think they will just come and say they want to be ministers next month simply because they were ministers before.''

"I WilI Crush Boko Haram In 2 Months" - Buhari Vows

 In an interview with CNN yesterday, Nigeria's president-elect Gen. Buhari promised to 'plug' corruption and crush Boko Haram in 2 months. He told CNN's Amanpour from Abuja last night;
“We know how they started and where they are now and we will rapidly give attention to security in the country. And I believe we will effectively deal with them in two months when we get into office. We will be needing the cooperation of neighbouring countries such as Cameroon, Chad and Niger. There were efforts made by the President Goodluck Jonathan administration, but it was not good enough and it came rather late”.

“We expected the Federal Government four years ago to sit down with these countries and make sure they do not allow the terrorists free movement across borders, training facilities and movement of weapons. These were only done a few months ago and we have seen how Cameroon, Chad and Niger are fighting Boko Haram more than Nigeria is doing until recently. Really we have seen enough and we have enough law enforcement to face Boko Haram squarely.”

Buhari said the military didn't perform as well as they should have because of corruption in the system.

“They will…if you recall, the Nigerian soldiers out of all ethical expectations were granting interviews to foreign journalists, saying they were being sent to fight terrorists without proper weapons. And then the National Assembly attempted to conduct a hearing to find out how much money was approved for training and weapon in the last three years but that hearing was scuttled by the administration.”

Do's and don'ts : Obasanjo Writes Gen. Buhari Open letter

Who said been president needs no manual? Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has written the President elect, Gen Buhari an open letter. In the letter, Chief Obasanjo charged Gen. Buhari to embark on reforming all of Nigeria's national institutions, particularly the military.

 Read below...
I hasten to congratulate you on your success and victory in the Presidential Elections of March 28, 2015. Your success and victory after three previous unsuccessful attempts must be great object lessons for you and for all politicians, particularly in Nigeria. For me, the totality of 2015 elections hold many lessons for our democracy and democratisation process, which are both maturing. On this occasion, the system has been unnecessarily overheated before and particularly during the campaigns when emphasis was more on trivialities and hate, divisive, undignifying and disrespectful statements and comments rather than on pressing issues requiring attention.
I know that in victory, you will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign and the evil disciples.

With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform, education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agribusiness, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption.

Your varied and wide experience will undoubtedly stand you in good stead. I am also sure that there are men and women of goodwill, character and virtue across the board that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and redirection that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on the fast lane of good governance, unity, cohesiveness, development and progress.

Once again, I felicitate with you and wish you well.

Victorious Buhari Thanks Supporters, Preaches Against Wild Celebrations

Ahead of his formal declaration as President elect of Nigeria, APC Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari has expressed  gratitude to Nigerians for choosing him and his party over and above the PDP and their candidate, the incumbent President, Dr Jonathan Goodluck.

The APC declared victory party after Dr Jonathan called General Buhari at 5:15pm to make a concession and congratulate the winner. Director Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council Garba Shehu quoted Buhari as saying that the mood of the country as well as its current state did not warrant the type of wild celebrations reportedly going on in some cities across the country.

Buhari said anybody happy with the victory of the APC in the presidential election will not be involved in the molestation of opponents or the destruction of their property.
“He or she is not with me, whoever does that,” Buhari curtly said.
He is due to make a major acceptance speech in the coming hours.

My Covenant With Nigerians - Buhari(Read)

From APC presidential candidate Mohammadu Buhari. Read below...

My Covenant With Nigerians - Buhari
Dear Compatriots,
In the past few months that I have traveled round this country on campaigns, I have experienced the sheer beauty of our diversity. From Port Harcourt to Kano, from Abeokuta to Gusau, I experienced first-hand the daily sufferings and struggles of our people. I also experienced the overwhelming desire of our people for change.
When I arrived in Port Harcourt on the 5th of January to start my campaigns, I was met by our teeming supporters, who stayed till late in the evening to welcome us. Among them were many young men and women, who in the few minutes that I shared with them at the airport, made me to reflect on what kind of future awaits them in our country.

The gestures of 90-year-old Hajia Fadimatu Mai Talle Tara from Kebbi State and 9-years-old Nicole Eniiyi Benson from Lagos State, who donated their life-savings to my campaign, reflect the overwhelming desire of our people for change. In their gestures, I perceived a longing for the days when honour, national pride and dignity of labour were the fundamental social principles that governed our country. As I encountered millions of our youths, who sometimes run for hours in front of my car and hanging precariously on our campaign vehicles at our state rallies, I also pondered the enormity of the task ahead. How do we give jobs to our youth? How do we reform our economy and make it work for every Nigerian?

I know however, that what we require to revamp our economy and rebuild our country is our ability to galvanize all our citizens to believe once again in their government, in their country and especially, to believe in themselves. This can only happen if we are able to rebuild the trust and belief that our people used to have in government, and indeed, in our nation. The leadership that I will provide will be built on this critical awareness. I intend to lead with integrity and honour and commit myself totally to everything that is of concern to our people: security, employment, health, education, good governance and others.

This Covenant is to outline my agenda for Nigeria and provide a bird’s eye view of how we intend to bring about the change that our country needs and deserves. This Covenant is derived from the manifesto of my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). It however, represents my pledge to you all when I become your President.

I have no doubt that God being on our side, with the abiding support of all Nigerians, we shall all witness the great change that we desire and achieve the Nigeria of our dream.
Thank you
Gen. Muhammadu BUHARI (Rtd.), GCFR
Presidential Candidate, APC

Corruption and Governance
No matter how vast our resources, if they are not efficiently utilized, they will only benefit a privileged few, leaving the majority in poverty. I believe if Nigeria does not kill corruption; corruption will kill Nigeria.
I pledge to:
·         Publicly declare my assets and liabilities and encourage my political appointees to also publicly declare their assets and liabilities.
·         Affirm that our strategy for tackling corruption will not only focus on punishment. Rather, it will also provide incentives for disclosure and transparency.
·         Show personal leadership in the war against corruption and also hold all the people who work with me to account.
·         Inaugurate the National Council on Procurement as stipulated in the Procurement Act so that the Federal Executive Council, which has been turned to a weekly session of contract bazaar, will concentrate on its principal function of policy making.
·         Review and implement audit recommendations by Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
·         Work with the National Assembly towards the immediate enactment of a Whistle Blower Act.
·         Work with the National Assembly to strengthen ICPC and EFCC by guaranteeing institutional autonomy including financial and prosecutorial independence and security of tenure of officials.
·         Make the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) an autonomous and operational agency.
·         Encourage proactive disclosure of information by government institutions in the spirit of the Freedom of Information Act.
·         Ensure all MDAs regularly comply with their accountability responsibilities to Nigerians through the National Assembly.
·         Work with the leadership of the National Assembly to cut down the cost of governance.
·         Present a national anti-corruption Strategy.

Access to Justice and Respect for Fundamental Human Rights
One of the biggest challenges facing Nigeria is building a country that is fair to all of its citizens; a country in which all individuals feel and know that they are valued members of society with constitutionally guaranteed rights; a country that respects human dignity, promotes human development, fosters human equality and advances human freedom.
I pledge to:
·         Lead a government founded on values that promote and protect fundamental human rights and freedoms.  I will promote the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, affirm separation of the powers of government and support an independent judiciary.
·         Present a detailed strategy for protecting the fundamental rights and freedoms provided for in our Constitution.  There will be emphasis on the rights of vulnerable persons including women, children and persons living with disabilities as well as access to justice and prisons reforms.

Insurgency and Insecurity
I have had the opportunity to serve my country in the military up to the highest level, as a Major General and as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. In the course of my service, I had defended the territorial integrity of Nigeria. And if called upon to do so again, I shall rise to the occasion. As a father, I feel the pain of the victims of insurgency, kidnapping and violence whether they are the widows and orphans of military, paramilitary or civilians.
I pledge to:
·         Ensure that under my watch, no force, external or internal, will occupy even an inch of Nigerian soil. I will give all it takes to ensure that our girls kidnapped from Chibok are rescued and reunited with their families.
·         Deliver a Marshal Plan on insurgency, terrorism, ethnic and religious violence, kidnapping, rural banditry and ensure that never again will Nigerian children be slaughtered or kidnapped at will.
·         Boost the morale of our fighting forces and the generality of Nigerians by leading from the front as the Commander-in-Chief and not hide in the comfort and security of Aso Rock.
·         Give especial attention to the welfare of our armed forces and all other security personnel and their families, including State-guaranteed life insurance for all officers and men as well as protect the families of our fallen heroes.
·         Ensure that acts of heroism and valour in the service to the nation are publicly recognized and celebrated.
·         Establish close working relationship with governors of the states affected by insurgency, with leaders of our neighbouring countries and with leaders around the world to cooperate in combating insurgency, oil theft, piracy and criminality.
·         Activate regular meetings of the National Police Council to ensure the discharge of its true constitutional roles in a transparent and accountable way.
·         Fight for you, and alongside you. We will fight together to defeat terrorism. But I will be honest with you about our challenges and I will bear the responsibilities of my charge. I will not lie to you or exaggerate our triumphs. My administration will be thoroughly transparent in every step of our daily struggle and together we will win the war.

Niger Delta
In many years of oil exploration, the Niger Delta has become perhaps, the world’s worst eco-system, a byword for environmental degradation, exploitation and diseases. I believe that protecting the livelihood of our people in the Niger Delta should transcend our interest its oil.
I pledge to:
·         Commit myself and my administration to the protection and regeneration of the environment in the Niger Delta and to ensure that oil companies comply with global best practices on environmental protection.
·        Sustain and streamline the human capital development in the Niger Delta, especially focusing on youth and women.
·        Reform investment in infrastructural development of the Niger Delta and ensure that the NDDC is held accountable to its mandate.

Diversity
Nigeria's greatest asset is her people. My commitment is to invest in our people and ensure that they have the opportunity to achieve their full potentials and enjoy the full benefits of their citizenship, regardless of their religion, region, ethnicity, gender or disability.
I pledge to:
·         Continually acknowledge our diversity and consciously promote equality and equity in all government businesses and activities.
·         Implement the National Gender Policy including 35% of appointive positions for women.
·         Work with the National Assembly to pass the National Disability Act and the Equal Opportunities Bill.

Health
We must give real meaning to the old saying that Health is Wealth. We must take all possible measures to ensure that our people stay healthy, but we must also ensure that when they fall ill, they can get help.
Healthcare in Nigeria is in crises. Too many people do not get any treatment. For those who do get treated, all too often, the care they receive is poor. Far too many die from easily treatable diseases and what should be routine treatment often end in death. Furthermore, Nigeria is set to miss our MDG targets. The statistics speak for themselves.
I pledge to:
·         Unveil a health sector review policy to ensure efficient and effective management of our health systems with focus on prevention.
·         Ensure that no Nigerian will have any reason to go outside the country for medical treatment.
·         Guarantee financial sustainability to the health sector and minimum basic health care for all.
·         Review occupational health laws and immediately commence enforcement of the provisions to reduce hazards in the work place.
·         Partner with State Governments and development partners to ensure all-round implementation of our primary health plans by expanding access to health insurance for rural communities.

Education
I believe that our education system must prepare our children for the responsibilities of citizenship and prepare our youths to contribute to the development of our country.  Therefore, I shall focus on restoring the lost glory of our education by implementing reforms that will bring quality back into our schools and position our universities and polytechnics to provide market-relevant skills to our youths.
I pledge to:
·         Embark on a program of mass mobilisation to ensure that all children of school age, no matter where they may reside in our country, and no matter the social conditions of their parents, are in school. Working in co-operation with the State Governments, we shall make the required investments in infrastructure, learning materials, nutrition and children healthcare. To this end, UBEC Fund will be reviewed to ensure greater efficiency in utilization.
·         Provide on-the-job retraining opportunities for existing teachers at both the basic and secondary levels while providing the right incentives to keep teachers in the classrooms and attract bright young men and women to take up career in teaching.
·         Work with other levels of government and through relevant government agencies to allocate resources to schools while strengthening community participation in school management.
·         Implement a comprehensive review of the goal and content of our secondary education to ensure that it also serves the purpose of skills acquisition and fits purpose.
·         Set up Colleges of Skills and Enterprise to replace the old technical colleges. This will be done with direct participation from relevant industry and professional groups in the private sector. Based on local market demands, each of the colleges will focus on high job demand sectors of the economy such as agriculture, ICT, telecommunications, entertainment, construction, oil and gas and sports.
·         Establish special purpose fund for a Secondary School level education.
·         Improve the competitiveness of our universities and polytechnics and position them at the heart of the national productivity, innovation and enterprise.
·         Pursue a policy of non-discrimination between the universities and the polytechnics.

Agriculture
Oil has served our country, but it has also excluded majority of Nigerians from the mainstream of our economy. I am convinced that our guarantee for inclusive growth is agriculture.

I pledge to:
Make agriculture a major focus of the government and lay the institutional foundation to attract large-scale investments and capital to the sector.
Actively promote a well-coordinated and innovatively funded Youth in Commercial Agribusiness Programme.
Establish agricultural produce storage, pricing and marketing systems to ensure real commercial value and minimize waste.
Work with State Governments to launch Agricultural Support Programmes that will drive agricultural land development and mechanization.
Revamp, revitalize and improve on the national agricultural extension and rural support service system.
Lay the groundwork for a standardized market uptake and aggregation outlets for specific agricultural produce.
Revamp the key development banks (Bank of Agriculture, Bank of Industry and Nigeria Import & Export Bank) to fund inclusive agricultural value chain operations
Liberalise and expand agricultural and rural insurance system with premium subventions support to farmers
Revamp the agricultural cooperative system to drive rural agriculture and improve stakes for smallholder farmers.
Develop a system of small-scale irrigation systems to ensure all-year round farming.
Revamping key agriculture research institutions and deliver their outputs through effective network of extension services.

Management of the Economy for Shared Prosperity
All Nigerians deserve to benefit from our collective wealth. We promise not to leave any Nigerian behind in our determination to create, expand and ensure equitable and effective allocation of economic opportunities. No matter the amount of wealth we create, it would be meaningless unless it benefits the majority of our people.

Power
Our failure to ensure a stable supply of electricity has been an impediment to economic growth, productivity and national security.
I pledge to:
·         Address the gaps in power sector privatization to ensure it serves the needs of our people.
·         Explore and develop alternative sources of power such as small, medium and large hydro plants, wind, coal and solar and other forms of renewable energy to ensure efficient and affordable power supply.
·         Invest in technical skills development for efficient management of energy resources.

Sports and Culture
Sports and culture are important instruments for social cohesion, national integration and promotion of positive national image. They also provide a strong platform for youth development and the expression of our abundant creative talents.
I pledge to:
·         Invest and encourage investments in both small and large-scale sports facilities to enable mass participation in sports.
·         Ensure that participation in sports become a core component of our education at all levels.
·         Activate incentives for the private sector to invest in the development of high performance sports.
Culture
I pledge to:
·         Support real investments in the entertainment, arts and creative industries.
·         Strengthen the regulatory framework to protect and preserve our culture and creative industry and prevent it from the scourge of piracy.
·         Develop and strengthen the value link-chain of the culture industry to deepen the industry and provide jobs.

Patience Jonathan Is Right, Buhari Is Brain-dead - Fani Kayode Says

Femi Fani-Kayode, the spokesperson of the PDP Presidential campaign organization, has come out to defend the recent remarks by first lady Patience Jonathan, that APC Presidential candidate, Gen Buhari is old and brain dead.

At a press conference in Abuja today, Fani-Kayode said Mrs Jonathan only spoken the bitter truth...

"The First Lady has spoken in a courageous and forthright manner and, most important of all, she has spoken the bitter truth. Instead of crying like spoilt little brats and complaining, the APC and the Buhari Campaign Organisation should live with that bitter truth and leave her alone. She has every right to express herself in any way that she deems fit and she is entitled to her opinion.

This is especially so given the fact that her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, is in the presidential race. This is a man that said that he would scrap the office of the First Lady if he is elected President. If he is not ready to face public scrutiny and criticism for his often times irresponsible, retrogressive, nonsensical and asinine views, he should quit the presidential race and consider retiring from politics. Our counsel to the APC is as follows: leave the First Lady alone or prepare yourselves for a relentless verbal blitzkrieg, the likes of which you have never seen before.” he said

President Jonathan will be Nigeria's last civilian president-Prophet

If you read Nigeria blogs or Nigeria newspapers, i am sure you will agree that, there have been too many prophecies from Nigeria preachers about the future of the country. If you are like me, you must be wondering  why God say different things to different preachers. There are also different prophecies concerning the coming elections. Some preachers claim Goodluck would win, others said Buhari would win but read below to find details of this latest prophecy:
Royal House of David Ministry’s Prophet Godfrey Gbujie yesterday said President Goodluck Jonathan will be the last civilian president to rule Nigeria before another civil war breaks out.

He said the nation “is at the crossroads of the last phase of 20 years reign of demons beginning from 1995-2015.”

According to the Nationalmirroronline, the prophet, who claimed to have predicted the deaths of former military ruler, Gen. Sani Abacha and President Shehu Yar’Adua, told newsmen in Owerri that neither Gen. Muhammadu Buhari nor Goodluck Jonathan would be president in 2015.
“Buhari has a mission divinely imposed on him, but
he shall not rule this country again; even if he wins, God has not determined him to find His favour. Jonathan is the last elected president of this country,” he stressed.
He refuted the possibility of military take-over, saying no military coup will succeed against the Jonathan administration.

However, he said “a loyal military commander will form interim government as there is going to be temporary vacancy in Aso Rock,” adding that head of the interim government would convene a national peace conference.

According to him, another crisis would erupt from the North, which will be led by two generals. “The two generals will emerge to lead a war from the North, which will eventually lead to the emergence of a young man from the East, who shall be chief peace mediator for the nation at the time of national crisis.”

The prophet, who claimed that God was angry at Nigeria and its rulers, said his vision reveals “the very bloody civil crises, which the Omnipotent God has decreed and is about to bring upon Nigeria.

“The nation has been condemned to geo-political disintegration and three independent nations shall emerge from her ruins. Biafra shall be re-established and Oduduwa nation shall emerge while the Northern Nigeria might prefer to answer Republic of Northern Nigeria at the time.”

He warned: “Do not despise the word of prophecy; I encourage whosoever reads or hears these prophecies to believe them and offer praises to God as each comes to fulfillment.”

Buhari refused to participate in yet another presidential debate

According to reliable information, APC presidential candidate,  Gen. Buhari has refused to participate in yet another Presidential debate, this time organised by Channel's Tv in conjunction with ARISE TV and NPAN. According to a statement signed by PDP's presidential campaign spokesman, Femi Fani Kayode:
"We have been informed that General Buhari and the APC have decided not to participate in the NPAN-Channel Television-organised debate after they had earlier agreed to take part in it. We had thought that having withdrawn from participating in the debate organised by Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), they would have availed themselves this second platform. Now that they have also turned their back on this, it is now very clear that General Buhari is incapable of engaging in rigorous live television debates on the issues of governance.
It speaks about his intellectual laziness and his loss of touch with contemporary issues of development and statecraft. We would like to reiterate that the APC has something to shield about General Buhari. He has campaigned in some states of the federation attacking President Jonathan’s handling of insurgency, corruption and economy. Now there is a platform on which both candidates can engage each other on these issues and he (Buhari) is running away. It is a disgrace to the APC and their candidate that they would treat everybody with contempt.
The organisers of the debates are interested in promoting a robust culture of debates so that people can listen to the candidates and make informed choices on the basis of their arguments. We call on Nigerians to express their displeasure with General Buhari and the APC by rejecting them at the poll. This will be a just recompense for treating the Nigerian people and electorate with disdain”

"I Pity Myself" - Buhari Says, As He Officially Picks N27m APC Presidential Form

General Muhammadu Buhari who is now running for the presidency for the fourth time, said while Speaking at the National Secretariat of the APC yesterday, October 16th, that he felt sorry for himself after buying the APC nomination form for a whooping sum of N27.5million.

"It’s a pity I couldn’t influence this amount to be put down ‎as in the case of ladies and the disable that intend to participate. I always look left and right in our meetings but I could not read sympathy, so I kept my trap. But I felt heavily sorry for myself because I don’t want to go and ask somebody to pay for my nomination forms, because I always try to pay myself, at least for the nomination. N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna and I told him that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even black please honour it otherwise I may lose the nomination."

"I was about to go to Kaduna this morning and I told the Chairman but he said in that case, you better pick your form and keep a straight face that means there is no excuse,” Mr. Buhari said.

Responding to Buhari, the APC National Chairman, John Oyegun said the high price attached to the nomination form was “in order to separate the men from the boys”.

OSHIOMHOLE DESERVES VICE-PRESIDENTIAL TICKET AND BUHARI SHOULD MAKE SACRIFICES FOR THE GOOD OF THE PARTY

The chieftain of the newly registered All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Odaro Omoregie, in this interview, urges General Muhammadu Buhari to go about his presidential ambition in the interest of the party, just as he declares that Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s leadership in Edo will guarantee victory for the APC in future elections in the state. Excerpts:

How optimistic are you that the APC will form the Federal Government in 2015?

You need to deploy wisdom when you play politics. It is becoming clearer by the day that there is a conspiracy  from the PDP in trying to jettison this new wind that is taking over the country now, the APC. They tried to thwart the registration but it did not work; and even today we are aware that there are groups working seriously to divide the APC by supporting certain elements as candidates.

I think internally we should have a new brand of leadership in the APC. For APC to continue to enjoy the support of the public, they should be able to bring out their best candidates and they must be young men and women. With the rumors going round now that people like General Buhari want to run for President, we are also hearing that Tambuwal is joining the APC,  we must ensure that we bring in new breed of politicians different from the PDP style.

The APC governors are doing well and I believe  some of them are also qualified to fly the presidential flag of the party. Some of them could also be Vice-President, people like Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who is doing very well in Edo state. We are believing that the APC can choose Oshiomhole as vice-president, then get somebody who will be generally accepted from the North as President.

Buhari’s presidential ambition
I know General Buhari very well, and I know that he is a man of integrity and man of his words. So if there is an arrangement that he should step aside with Tinubu so as to have an acceptable candidate, I think he will honor that. But don’t forget he is a man with broad based support and most of his supporters would want to see him rule this country once again.

But we will not give our support on emotional ground; I believe we must do what is best for the party to be able to kick out PDP from power. We really need the new breed to take over the leadership of  Nigeria and that is what APC should focus on. Buhari has exhibited leadership both as a military president and a civilian, but I think the APC arrangement now will necessitate him to become a statesman or a national leader of the party and play advisory role to ensure that younger people are brought into the system.

I believe he will honour the agreement but I know that some persons will push him but I know he should be wiser than that because for the APC to defeat the PDP, the leaders must make painful sacrifices. Nigerians will appreciate him more now if he stays at the back ground and assist the party to grow.

APC optimism
I am very optimistic about that.  It is only in Nigeria that we don’t remember that  election is a game of numbers and  performance. If you go back to the last 14 years of the PDP government, the impact has been  minimal, if you want to compare the revenue of the Federal Government with the development we are seeing, there is nothing to write home about.

Jonathan was our hope when he became President but if you look at what we are getting today Yar’Adua’s administration was even better. There is so much insecurity, poor road network, lack of steady power, poverty, unemployment, nothing is working. So I don’t think the PDP slogan of being the largest party in Africa will go beyond 2015, they will be defeated across board because they have failed the people.

Edo State APC
I don’t think we still have PDP in Edo; it is only on the pages of newspaper you hear comments as if they still exist here. But if you look across the state, in local governments, state Assembly, the PDP is no where and I believe we will finally bury them in the 2015 National Assembly election.

That is why I laughed when I read the former chairman of Owan West Local Asekhame saying that APC will not survive in Edo, he is day dreaming.
