Kaduna state Governor Nasir El Rufai announced yesterday through a press statement that he has sacked 20 permanent secretaries from Kaduna State civil service and has appointed new officials to fill some positions in his government.

“In line with its resolve to cut the cost of running government, the Kaduna State Government has announced the retirement of 20 permanent secretaries. This decision follows the streamlining of ministries in the state from 19 to a leaner 13, as part of efforts to free up resources to be used for providing schools, hospitals, roads and other public goods.
The government, which had at inception declared its determination to cut costs, drive efficiency and improve service delivery, is continuing the restructuring of its agencies. To ensure that the number of permanent secretaries is properly aligned with the new structure, there will be only 13 permanent secretaries for the 13 ministries." the statement read.

Gov. El Rufai to Sue Over Claims he Declared N90bn and 40 Houses as his Assets

Earlier today a certain media platform, The Union, reported that Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai had declared N90 billion and 40 houses in the FCT as his assets before the Code of Conduct Bureau.

"Governor Nasir ElRufai of Kaduna State has declared his asset. He is worth N90 billion. The governor’s assets declaration came as a big shock to most Kaduna residents yesterday as he allegedly declared ownership of 40 mansions, most of which are located in Abuja. Kaduna State Director Code of Conduct Bureau, George David, however, declined to comment when contacted." The Union wrote
Reacting to the publication, El-Rufai, through his media aide, described it as false and says they will be suing the publishers. Find the statement signed by the governor's media aide, Samuel Aruwan below...

After a busy few weeks as governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai is dismayed by the blatant falsehood being practised as journalism by The Union newspapers. He has consequently directed his legal team to vigorously enforce his rights to protect his reputation from the vandalism of irresponsible hacks.
The Union chose to write a spurious story alleging N90b as his assets declaration without seeing the declaration made by Malam El Rufai.

The circle of blackmail that did the story claimed they heard a rumour, and they pursued the rumour so vigorously they transformed it into news. When some of their cohorts made contact with the governor’s media team insisting that they respond to rumour, they were told that it is better if they chose the more legitimate route of agitating for a public asset declaration.

Fair minded people who read the story will notice that it is not grounded in any evidence. It is just the animus of blackmailers who regard Malam Nasir El-Rufai as easy prey. But since his reputation is not based on purchased kudos, he cannot be compelled into accommodation with venal people masquerading as journalists.

Malam Nasir El-Rufai is a privileged Nigerian. He qualified as a chartered Quantity Surveyor early in life and became a dollar millionaire in his twenties. He is a respected leader in in his professional field but as successful as he has been in his career, he certainly has neither N90 billion nor 40 mansions.

He will not be distracted from his total focus on making Kaduna great again. In this endeavour, he will continue to be accessible to practitioners of responsible journalism.

'' All Jonathanians Can Go Jump Into The Lagoon'' - Mallam Nasir El-Rufai

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory now Deputy National Secretary of All Progressives Congress, APC, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, yesterday taunted associates of President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party over the appointment of his childhood friend and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Malam Lamido Sanusi, as the new Emir of Kano.

In a tweet on Sunday evening moments after the Kano State Government announced Mr. Sanusi as successor to the former emir, Alhaji (Dr) Ado Bayero, who died on Friday, El-Rufai said: “Alhamdulillah. The best man has won”.

“SLS (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) is the Emir of Kano. Jonathanians can go jump into the lagoon”.

The former minister had in a post on his Facebook page an hour earlier (before the official announcement was made), faulted the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party for prematurely congratulating another candidate – Sanusi Ado Bayero – as the new emir even when a successor to the late Ado Bayero had not been named.
“The PDP out of fear and hatred of my brother SLS (Sanusi Lamido Sanusi) began circulating the falsehood that someone else had been appointed Emir of Kano”, Mr. El-Rufai fumed.

“Then they congratulated the Emir that had not been selected by the constituted authority. Earlier, they had enlisted several PDP sympathiser-traditional rulers to put pressure on Governor Kwankawaso to discourage him from selecting SLS, who was recommended on merit among the aspirants by the kingmakers.

“May the Almighty Allah Guide Governor Kwankwaso in choosing a wise and honest leader that will build on the legacy of Late Ado Bayero. In my opinion, that person is my brother SLS. But that is my opinion only which I am entitled.

“They have now withdrawn their false and contrived congratulations. PDP represents all that is evil and wrong about our nation. May Allah separate Nigeria from this evil, divisive and poverty-inducing party”. He concluded. Source

Amazingly, it was former FCT minister Nasir El-Rufai, who shared this pic on his timeline, criticizing President Jonathan's decision to attend a PDP rally in Kano a day after over 100 people were killed in a bomb blast in Abuja and over 100 girls abducted from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno. He even circled GEJ dancing against a woman...lol. All these politicians and drama. But who agrees with El Rufai?

Mallam Nasir El Rufai is bereaved at the moment. The former FCT minister lost his nephew and brother with 3 of their friends in one day in a fatal car accident.

He took to Twitter on Saturday night to inform his followers:

“On behalf of the El-Rufai family, I thank all of you for the support, sympathies and prayers. May Almighty God…

May the souls of these young people rest in perfect peace. May God Grant the parents and families the fortitude to bear the losses, Ameen?..

My nephew Lawal was a baby I had nursed. He was my sister’s eldest son. The motor accident took his life, Ibrahim’s and three others today.

It is sad when one’s younger sibling pre-deceased one. I was Ibrahim’s big brother and protector from bullies. He d*ed today.”

He also announced the death on Facebook

“Please join us in praying for the souls of my brother Ibrahim El-Rufai, my nephew Lawal Sani Gwandu and their three friends that died today.

On behalf of the El-Rufai family, I thank all of you for the support, sympathies and prayers. May Almighty God accept our prayers, Amen.

Ibrahim was my immediate kid brother, and until recently worked with First Bank of Nigeria. He is survived by our mother, his siblings, wives and children. Our nephew Lawal Sani Gwandu was younger, married and survived by his wife and children too.

Their three other friends that d*ed in the vehicle accident I did not know very well. May Aljannah Firdaus be their final abode, Amen.

We just got into Kaduna with the five corpses. We hope that they will be prepared for funeral prayers scheduled for 3.30pm at Sultan Bello Mosque.

They will be buried insha Allah at the Dawaki Road cemetery after the Asr prayers.
We thank you all and may God reward all in kind, Amen. Nasir”
