Trading Union Thugs Chop Off Unfaithful Trader's Thumb

Barely a week after the finger of Yinka Oyedele, a JSS3 student of Eric Moore Secondary School, Surulere, Lagos, was cut off by an SS1 student of Surulere High School, another victim has lost his finger to assailants.

The victim, a trader at Ladipo Market, Mushin, Lagos, 37-year old Ofoka Nnaji was attacked by suspected thugs who were allegedly hired by a faction of the traders’ union at the market.

The attack on Nnaji has rekindled the violent attack on traders by thugs at Aguiyi Ironsi International Trade Centre at Ladipo market Mushin, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

The latest attack on Nnaji was by the same thugs that allegedly attacked the Chairman of Mushin Local Government area, Mr. Babatunde Adepitan, recently.

Nnaji claimed that the men who attacked him inside the market used cutlasses to cut him on the head and other parts of his body before they cut off his finger and took it away.

He is pleading that his cut off finger should be returned to him so that he will bury it.

Nnaji said he went to the market with the hope that the Lagos State government had finally made peace with the warring factions after the Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, was signed. Unknown to him, there was a group opposed to the peace initiative by the state government through the Ministry of the Environment.

He said immediately he went into the market on Thursday, he was identified by thugs he claimed that were brought from Southeast.

The victim said they accused him of opposing Chief Jonathan Okoli’s leadership and started beating him. He was macheted and his finger was cut off and taken away.

Mushin Council boss, Adepitan had alleged that it was Okoli that brought those thugs who attacked them because he did not want peace in the market.

He explained that the MOU was painstakingly made for peace to reign in the market and was accepted by the market stakeholders. He expressed shock that Okoli who was part of the peace deal pulled out and started fomenting trouble.

Okoli has denied sending thugs to attack anybody.

Recently, Adepitan and some Lagos State government officials comprising the Nigerian police and soldiers were attacked and chased away by a group opposed to peace in the market.

Adepitan insisted that the MOU must stand and reiterated his commitment to bringing peace to the market.

He said that Governor Babatunde Fashola, the State House of Assembly and all the security agents are aware of the matter and very soon the problem will be solved.

2 House Maids Fight Over Indian Lover

Two Nigerian house maids, Patience Okpara and Elizabeth Emmanuel threw away decency and fought openly at Ilupeju Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria over an Indian man .

Patience was bitter that Elizabeth started having affairs with the Indian she claimed was her s*x partner and boss. The fight resulted in Patience boiling a hot water adding pepper to it and pouring it on Elizabeth and she sustained severe burns.

The incident happened at 17, Sere Close, Ilupeju, Lagos, where both work as domestic servants to two Indians.

Both were arrested by the police at Ilupeju station. Patience was charged to Oshodi Magistrate’s court, Lagos for pouring hot water on Elizabeth after their fight was separated by a security guard in the compound.

Patience, 25, hails from Imo State and Elizabeth, 25, hails from Akwa Ibom State.Patience was so bitter that Elizabeth left her own man and had s*x with her boss. Patience said when she confronted Elizabeth, she was boasted about it, saying it was her boss that demanded her services that night. Patience, who is now facing a one-count charge of assault at the court, pleaded not guilty.

Man beats girlfriend, causes br*ast implant to pop

CBS Cleveland reports 60-year-old Samuel Cole was charged with felonious assaulted Sunday after he punched his 52-year-old girlfriend several times in the face and nearly suffocated her. Cole allegedly then stomped on her, busting her br*ast implant.

A police report details the assault, saying Cole choked his girlfriend with one hand and placed his other hand over her nose and mouth. The report says she passed out during Cole's attack, and he later transported her to a hospital, under the condition that she not tell staff what had happened to her.

Staff called police who arrested Cole Sunday morning, about three hours after the incident.

Cole is held in Hamilton County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond. A "stay away" order bars him from contacting the victim.

12 buildings razed,100 persons rendered homeless

OVER 47 buildings in Oreba community in Uwheru, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, have been destroyed, following a violent clash with a neighbouring Odja village over a girl friend tussle.

Over 100 persons have been rendered homeless by the clash, which occurred recently at about 9am, involving youths of the two communities. 12 buildings, according to a reliable source, were razed, while 32 were destroyed.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that three other buildings were pulled down with dynamites. The leadership of the Oreba community in a press release yesterday called on the State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan to as a matter of urgency visit the village.

The community in the statement, signed by the ‘Odion’, Mr Julius Orovwenya and two others, alleged that; “the serene peaceful Oreba Community of Uwherun Kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State was razed down by youths from Odja Community of Uwherun. “The agrarian village was attacked in the early hours of 16th of February 2012, when most of the villagers have gone to their farm lands.

Preliminary investigations showed that a youth from Odja who was involved in a fight with another from Agadama Community over a girl friend during a burial ceremony in Oreba on 28th of January 2012, died on the 16th of February , 2012.

“These Odja youths who are known notorious criminals in Uwherun Kingdom used dynamites on buildings of innocent Oreba people before setting them o fire. Evidence of dynamites used on houses are currently with the Nigeria Police Force in Ughelli.

“Hundreds of the villagers have their homes and properties completely destroyed, looted and they are now refugees in their home land. They are homeless, no clothes and no food to eat.

“We are therefore calling on the State Executive Governor to as a matter of urgency visit this village and direct all relevant Government and non Government Agencies saddled with Emergency Relief Responsibilities to come to our aid in order to avoid deaths from hunger and frustrations.

“We hereby appeal to the member representing Ughelli North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, the member in Federal House of Representatives, the Senator, Delta Central, Special Senior Assistant (SSA) to the Executive Governor on Community Matters and the President General of Uwherun Kingdom to visit this community and confirm the degree of destructions in order to give the necessary assistance to Oreba people.

“We also call on the Nigeria Police Force and all other security agencies to immediately bring the perpetrators of this criminal act to book to serve as deterrent to others in Uwherun kingdom. As a peaceful, law abiding community we rely on the law to take its course as no one man, family, town or kingdom has the monopoly of violence.

“We hopefully rely on you to use your good office in alleviating the sufferings brought upon this Oreba people by the Odja hoodlums.”

Okada riders beat FRSC official to stupor

AN official of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, yesterday escaped lynching by operators of commercial motorcycle in Awka, Anambra State.

Residents of Awka woke up to see that major roads in the city, including Enugu-Onitsha expressway, were filled with officials of FRSC demanding particulars, fire extinguisher, spare tyres, among other things, and were asking motorists to apply their breaks and test the lights on their vehicles at stationary positions.

The development created chaos in the town and motorists were meandering the side streets to find ways of avoiding the road marshals.

Trouble started when one of the commercial motorcyclists carrying a passenger came to one of the points where the FRSC men were operating and when one of them stopped him, he tried to escape.

This angered one of the road marshals who grabbed him and he fell with his passenger.

Other motorcyclists who watched the incident, rushed at one of the road marshals and beat him mercilessly.

In the midst of the confusion, there was pandemonium in the area and other road marshals took to their heels.

The situation was saved by some motorists who were already parked by the road marshals as they pleaded with the Okada riders to leave him.

One of the Okada who gave his name as Nwachi, said they were angered by the activities of the road marshal who had earlier impounded over 50 motorcycles and took their owners to a mobile court.

At the mobile court, no fewer than 20 vehicles were parked and their drivers were waiting for their cases to be mentioned.

Six dead as fighting broke out among Boko Haram members

Six Boko Haram members have died in Maiduguri, allegedly as a result of a fight that broke out among members of the Islamist group.

The six were reported to have been killed on Thursday in Shehu North - the same district where the military said it had killed 11 Boko Haram members on Saturday.

'The killings may have been as a result of division among sect members,' security officer Hassan Mohammed said. Gunshots and explosions were heard Friday morning in Maiduguri, home to the headquarters of the radical group.

The Nigerian army - which has pulled one of its brigades out of the troubled northern state of Jos - said there were no casualties, and that the explosions were the result of bombs detonated safely by security forces.

Boko Haram spokesman Abul Qaqa, who previously issued statements claiming responsibility for Christmas Day bombings and a recent spate of attacks in Kano, is being questioned by police in Abuja.

He was arrested Wednesday and has been held in the capital since.

Pastor dies after fighting with man who accused him of raping his 15 year old daughter

A 56-year-old man, John Oromoro, is in police custody for allegedly killing his pastor, Ben Ojinaka. The incident happened on Sunday, September 19th at Jakande Estate, Ajangbadi. Mr Oromoro said the pastor of Jesus Power Ministry, Benjamin Ojinaka, 45, allegedly raped his 15-year-old daughter in July this year.

He said he went to confront the pastor on the allegation that it was his daughter that lured him to have s*x with him when a fight ensued between them that led to the pastor’s death.

“I be tanker driver,” he said. “The thing wey happen na since more than one month ago. My daughter, wen be the last born of my fourteen children get marine spirit. Pastor Ben come say him fit deliver her. Na me and pastor na we form the church together, so na so pastor come dey carry her go for deliverance.”

Scandal and Death

Mr Oromoro stated that his daughter was eventually delivered of the ‘spirits’ but he noticed she kept going back to church after the deliverance. “Later my daughter come refused to go church; after I ask her many times, she come confessed say pastor Ben rape her for inside my house one day during deliverance,” he said. “I come vex, go meet pastor. Him come tell me make I forgive am say na devil work, I vex but I come forgive pastor.” He said he then heard rumours of the pastor claiming that his daughter lured him to have s*x with him. “When I hear say pastor dey tell people say na my daughter rape am, I come go him house on Sunday go ask am say why him dey spoil my daughter name,” he said. “Him tell me to get out from him house , I come vex, we come dey fight. Na so people for the compound come separate us. As pastor dey run go tell police, na so him fall down.”

According to the wife of the deceased, Mr Ojinaka slumped after the fight and was rushed to a private hospital. “As him fall down, we pour water for him body but him no wake up,” said Mrs Ojinaka. “We carry am go private hospital and them refer us to General hospital for Badagry. When the doctor seem am for general hospital, them say pastor don die make we carry am go mortuary.” His corpse was subsequently taken to the mortuary at the General hospital, Isolo, Lagos.

Police officers from the Ilemba Hausa Police Station arrested Mr Oromoro and the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba. Homicide detectives at Panti said investigation into the case has began. Frank Mba, the Lagos Police Command Spokesperson, advised resident to shun violence and embrace peace.

Woman Remanded For Cutting Co-tenant’s Face With Blade

A 23-year-old housewife, Mrs. Angela Nzea, has been arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on a one-count charge of using a razor to slash the forehead of her co-tenant, Miss Abiola Shotunbi, during a fight.

The police alleged in charge sheet, suit number. K/1/2012 that the accused was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim with blood gushing out from her forehead that Angela, her co-tenant at 36, Odo Street, Obalende, Lagos, slashed her forehead with razor when she attacked her over minor disagreement over spilled water in the passage at their residence.

Following the report, the police arrested the woman, while the victim was rushed to hospital.

In her statement to the police, the victim said the accused attacked her over water that poured on the passage while she was taking a bucket of water to her apartment.

She said, “I told her it was not intentional and that I would clean it up. The matter degenerated into a quarrel and neighbours settled us.

“As I bent down to mop up the water, the accused suddenly pounced on me from behind threatening she would kill me and a fight broke out.

“In the ensuing confusion, she slashed my forehead with a razor blade and blood started gushing out profusely.”

After investigation, the accused was charge to court for inflicting injury, occasioning harm, an offence which, according to the police prosecutor, Colman Williams, is punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code Cap 7 Vol.11 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

Mrs. Nzea pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to her and the presiding magistrate, Mr. W.B Balogun, granted her bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum who must provide evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State government.

He also directed that one of the sureties must be working with a reputable company, while the other must be a blood relation of he suspect.

The case was adjourned till 23 January.

The accused was taken to Kirikiri prison when she could not meet her bail conditions.

10-year-old school boy beats up two over 50-year-old teachers + broke one of the teachers’ leg

A 10-year-old schoolboy has been arrested over a vicious attack on two middle-aged women teachers, NEWSMEN has learned.

One teacher suffered a broken leg and a suspected dislocated kneecap and the other sustained facial injuries at the school.

The teachers, both in their 50s, were taken to hospital by ambulance following the alleged assault in Orpington, South East London, at 1pm on Thursday.

Staff called police who arrested the ten-year-old pupil on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The boy was taken to a nearby police station and questioned by specially-trained officers in the presence of an adult. He was bailed until the middle of next month.

The savage lunchtime attack shocked other staff and pupils at the school.

One source said: “The nature of the injuries was very serious.

“The officers who turned up were amazed when they discovered the suspect was only ten.

“It is a truly extraordinary thing to happen and makes you wonder what the world is coming to.”

Latest figures for 2010 show 251 teachers were assaulted by pupils in England and Wales. Forty-four had to go to hospital.

Almost half of all teachers in the UK leave the profession within five years after qualifying. The biggest reason they give for going is abuse, violence or the threat of violence from aggressive pupils.

Landlord Beats Up Tenant’s Wife Over S*x

A Lagos landlord, Nuru Rasaki of 7, Michael Adeboye Street, Idimu Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has been arraigned before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court for allegedly beating his tenant’s wife, Mrs Biola Ajani after she allegedly denied him s*x on Chrismas Day.

Mrs Ajani said in the open court that the landlord claimed that he has right over his tenants including their wives to do his wishes and therefore wanted to sleep with her.

The landlord, who hails from Kwara State, is now facing a charge of assault.

He was alleged to have sneaked into Biola’s house when her husband was not around and attempted to have s*x with her.

It was learnt that the woman refused and raised an alarm that attracted their neighbours.

He reportedly tore her clothes and unleashed blows on her before she was rescued by the neighbours.

Mrs Ajani said that Rasaki has been pestering her for s*x since she packed into the house.

She said that when his pressure became unbearable, she told her husband, Musbili what was happening.

She said her husband pleaded with her to be patient for them to get another accommodation before this incident happened.

Musbili confirmed what his wife said, adding that he did not want to take laws into his hands and that was why he reported the matter to the police.

The landlord denied that he attempted to sleep and assulted her.

But he could not explain how the woman sustained injury on her eyes and what he was doing in her apartmet when her husband was not around.

He said that he assisted the woman and her family in the past.

Rasaki said that she was ungrateful and wanted to pay his good deeds towards her with bad.

The action of the landlord has landed him in trouble because he was arrested and charged to court where he pleaded not guilty.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, granted him bail in the sum of N20, 000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned till 23 January 2012 for hearing

Bosom friends stab selves over spilled beer, land in hospital

You will not be wrong, if you call it tit- for -tat or an eye for an eye.

It is about two bosom friends, who met at a drinking joint in Lagos and ended up in the police station, after they used sharp objects to inflict injuries on each other.

Policemen arrested them, as fresh blood was still dripping from their battered bodies.

The incident happened at Badamosi Street, Ijesha Road, Itire, Lagos.

The friends, who went to the beer palour separately, to catch some fun and gulp some bottles of beer, went for each other’s jugular over spilled beer.

The men, Jonathan Ufot, 29, a guard, and Alex Adingupu, 30, a bus conductor, were said to be living in the same compound before the building was sold by their landlord.

Daily Sun gathered that while living in the same house, the duo had misunderstanding which was not resolved, before they were forced by circumstances beyond their control, to go their separate ways.

And when they suddenly met at the drinking joint, they resumed their hostilities.

It was gathered that one of them mistakenly spilled the beer, belonging to the other, but because of their unresolved differences, they started throwing punches at each other.

One of them was alleged to have initiated the fight, by releasing a punch, while the other wasted no time in retaliating. This resulted in fisticuffs and efforts by people at the scene to separate them proved abortive.

It was also gathered that it was when they started cutting themselves with sharp objects, inflicting injuries on themselves that policemen were invited to bring the situation under control.

It, however, took the efforts of a team of policemen, attached to the Itire police station, to separate the warring parties and arrested them for interrogation.

An eyewitness, who claimed to know them very well, but pleaded anonymity, described Jonathan and Alex as chain smokers of cannabis, otherwise known as Indian hemp. When hey were interrogated by the police, they refused to disclose the cause of the fight. And the policemen, who appeared confused, as to what to do with the men, directed that they should be taken to the hospital for treatment, before deciding on the next line of action.

Woman Charged to Court for Biting Off Neighbour’s Nose

From Edo State comes a report that a 38-year-old woman, Monica Edosa, was on Wednesday (November 2, 2011), arraigned before a Customary Court sitting in the Idogbo area of the state for allegedly biting off her neighbour’s nose.

The prosecutor, Benson Agu, said the accused had, on the 16th of October, 2011, at Osaiwede Street, Upper Sakponba Road, Benin, bitten off part of Joy Okunrobo’s nose during a ‘fight’.

not guilty to the charges, the prosecutor applied for an adjournment to enable both parties resolve the case out of court. This was because the father of the victim, Roland Osakue and the husband of the accused, Okunrobo Edosa, had indicated interest in out-of-court settlement.

After listening to the submissions of all the parties, the judge, Esther Eweka, granted bail to the accused in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum. She then adjourned the case till 15 November for further briefing on the progress of the out of court settlement
