SAD:70-yr-old HIV patient rapes girl, 13

People think until you physically use a gun or a weapon to kill someone, that's when you commit murder but i think a 70 year old HIV man who deliberately rapes a 13 year has just committed murder because condemning a young girl to the scourges and pain of an HIV infected life gotten through a rape is both wicked and gruesome. 

A 70-year-old man has been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl in Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau State. The man whose name has been withheld was said to have raped the girl last Thursday.

The suspect said to be  in police net is infected with HIV and is on anti-retroviral drugs.

The old man was said to have been caught in the act by the son of the landlord, who immediately reported the matter to the police.It was also gathered that the old man had confessed committing  the crime, but later denied after some of his kinsmen told him to deny raping the minor. 

The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Mr Chris Olakpe confirmed that the 70-year-old man is in police custody in Barkin Ladi, for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl but said he would be transferred to the headquarters in Jos.

700,000 Nigerian youths have HIV/AIDS –UNAIDS

Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS has said about 700,000 young are living with HIV/ AIDS. The Executive Director of UNAIDS, Mr. Michel Sidibe, said this in Abuja on Wednesday. Sidibe warned that Nigeria risked the danger of new HIV infections if its youths were not properly educated about the effects of the virus. 

He said, “If we don’t engage young people as actors of change, we will not stop new infections. An estimated 700,000 young people aged 15 to 32 are living with HIV—a number nearly one-fifth of the total population of HIV-positive people in Nigeria, according to data from the UN body. 

“It is also estimated that only 24 percent of young people have accurate knowledge that could help them adopt behaviours to reduce the risk of HIV transmission.” The UNAIDS boss also called on the Federal Government to speed up the passage of the bill prohibiting stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS. 

Sidibe, who spoke during the event in Gwagwalada area of the Federal Capital Territory, also advocated the quick passage of the HIV/AIDS anti-stigmatisation and discrimination bill. He said, “People are suffering more from stigma, discrimination and exclusion than even from the disease.” Punch Nigeria.

Man turns himself in, confessing to infecting 3,000 women AND men with HIV

David Dean Smith deliberately set out to infect as many men and women with the HIV virus he had and in his quest, had unprotected s*x with as many as 3,000 people over the course of several years.

Having achieved his goal, he turned himself in to the Michigan Police last week.

While it is unclear when exactly he was diagnosed with the virus, one of the two women who have been officially identified as being infected by him, says she “hooked up” with David Smith back in 2008 .

She said that once she was tested, she immediately knew it was Smith who infected her. Calling him a “sociopath and a ‘predator’, she said the two met through a Yahoo! Personals listing.

53-years-old HIV Positive Woman Killed Her 28-years-old Disabled and Bed Ridden Son With a Pestle

A 53-year-old HIV positive woman from Mberengwa has been arrested for allegedly killing her 28-year-old disabled and bed ridden son by striking him thrice on the head with a pestle. 

Siphiwe Mlauzi, who was reportedly worried by her deteriorating health, went on to inform a neighbour after committing the offence before she attempted to commit suicide. The incident, which has set tongues wagging, occurred on Wednesday night at Village Marori, Chief Mahlebadza. 

Acting police spokesperson for Midlands Province Assistant Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident yesterday. He identified the man as Talent Shumba. According to a relative, Mlauzi, a widow who was staying with the disabled son, decided to allegedly kill him in fear that he would not find a caregiver in the event that she dies before him.

 Shumba has been disabled since birth and would soil himself while the mother would clean and take care of him all his life. “When Mlauzi who has been taking anti-retroviral drugs for the past three years recently fell ill, she then took the unfortunate decision and killed her son before she tried to commit suicide,” said a relative who declined to be identified, arguing that he was not the family spokesperson. 

The relative said after striking her son with a pestle and killing him instantly, Mlauzi went to her neighbour and told her of the development before she attempted to commit suicide. “The neighbour then quickly blocked Mlauzi who had indicated that she was now proceeding to commit suicide as she screamed for help from other villagers. 

The neighbour and some villagers who responded to the alarm then managed to get hold of Mlauzi and this was when we were informed of the unfortunate development,” he said. The relative said Mlauzi had indicated to a neighbour that she had killed her son because she thought she was “dying” and her son would not get assistance.

 “I think Mlauzi did not get the much needed counselling and we are equally to blame as the family for the tragic incident. After staying with her son for the past 28 years, we thought she had accepted what God had given her and never thought of this tragedy,” he said. Meanwhile, Chief Mahlebadza who confirmed the incident, lashed out at non-government organisations dealing with disabled persons, which he said were failing to reach out to villages to help the needy.

“The problem with these NGOs which assist people of this nature operate within cities and towns, they do not have time to reach out to rural areas to see what we experience here. 

This woman could have saved the life of her son and avoided being arrested if she had received enough counselling and support,” he said. Asst Insp Mahoko said Mlauzi was taken to the police by villagers following the incident. He said police investigations were underway. “The accused Mlauzi is leading police with investigations. We appeal to members of the public to seek counselling and advice from elders in society when faced with problems,” said Asst Insp Mahoko.

Risk of acquiring HIV through anal s*x is higher

The risk of contracting the Human Immunodeficiency Virus through anal s*x is seven times higher than through vaginal s*x, the senior manager, New HIV Vaccine and Microbicides Advocacy Society, Mrs. Aisha Adaranijo, has said. 

Adaranijo said this during the organisation’s end of project dissemination programme in Lagos. 

According to her, the anus being a narrow and dry passage is susceptible to tears when penetrated and when such happens, the risk of contacting the HIV ‘becomes very high.’ Adaranijo, who listed the most-at -risk people as men who have s*x with men, commercial s*x hawkers, injection drug users and those living with HIV, said through the research carried out by NHVMAS, it was discovered that the youth formed the larger percentage of this group. 

She said, "The availability of antiretroviral drugs, which bring down the viral load and ensure that the HIV does not develop into full blown AIDS, together with other medical intervention has really helped carriers to live these days. 

This was unlike the past when people developed full blown AIDS. "But youths are still involving themselves in risky and weird s*xual exploits which they watch in pornographic movies."

Cross River Releases 81-Year-Old, HIV Patients From Prison

Calabar — The Chief Judge of Cross River State, Justice Dorothy Iyamba Idem, yesterday set free an 81 year old man, Chief Ata Okon Aqua, who was in prison over robbery when she undertook a visit to the Afokang Prison in Calabar South Local Government Area of the state.

She also set free 23 others, including a pregnant woman and people suffering from HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis. Justice Iyamba Idem ordered that the pregnant woman, who was detained for being in possession of 600 grammes of Indian hemp should be released because of the severe bleeding she was experiencing, with a warning that she should be of good behaviour. The Chief Judge also set free three HIV positive patients, whose cases have developed into full blown AIDS.

Justice Idem, who lamented that some cases drag on for long due to lack of police records, said it was a shame that the police and the office of the DPP were not living up to their responsibilities as prosecuting agents.

"It is a shame that we do not have records or files on some of the cases that have been under investigation for over two years. The detention of such people is tantamount to unlawful incarceration and as such, some of them have to be set free," she said.

Prophet Contracts HIV after Embarking on Strong Spiritual Prayers On a Woman

A self styled prophet, Brighton Chiwafa (19) has reportedly contracted HIV from a woman he prayed for and later raped.

Chiwafa of House Number 36, 18th Street Heroes Section, Chegutu, initially went to the woman’s house demanding his “holy water” back before she pleaded with him to continue using the water.

Chiwafa denied the charge when he appeared before Chinhoyi regional magistrate Mr Solomon Jenya, but was convicted after a fully contested trial.

Prosecutor Mr Admore Shekede proved that the accused had non-consensual s*xual intercourse with the woman.

In his defence, Chiwafa said the woman consulted another “prophet” who instructed her to find a young and healthy man who would help her conceive, as she wanted to have a child.

He said the intercourse was by mutual consent.

Allegations against Chiwafa are that on October 10, 2010, he went to the woman’s house demanding his “muteuro” (holy water) back, but the woman pleaded with him to allow her to continue using it.

He returned the following day making the same demands, but she told him that she had pain in her womb and needed help.

Chiwafa asked for cooking oil and told the woman to go into a private room where he followed and told her to apply the oil on her private parts.

He then started caressing her private parts and raped her.

Mr Jenya found him guilty of the offence and sentenced him to six years in prison before suspending two on condition that he does not commit a similar offence in future.

Cases of women being raped by self-styled prophets are on the rise nationally. The police urges women not to trust the prophets who masquarade under the guise of religion.

15-Years-Old HIV Positive Girl S*xually Attacks 4-Years-Old Boy to Infect Him

PARENTS of a four-year-old boy are waiting anxiously to find out if he has been infected with HIV following a s*x attack by a 15-year-old girl, a court heard.

The boy was playing in the yard of his home with other children when the teenage neighbour walked over and persuaded him to go with her, prosecutor Sifiso Ndlovu told the Bulawayo Magistrates’ Court.

Once at her home in Bulawayo’s Gwabalanda suburb, the girl undressed, lay on a bed facing upwards and forced the boy to come on top her before molesting him.

Ndlovu told magistrate Fadzai Mthombeni on Wednesday that the teenage neighbour knew she was HIV positive before the attack on the little boy.

She pleaded guilty to a charge of aggravated indecent assault and deliberate transmission of HIV – although tests so far have shown the boy has not yet been infected. HIV has an incubation period of up to three months before it can be detected in tests.

The magistrate ordered the girl indefinitely detained at a young offenders’ institution. A decision on which institution she will be sent to will be made by the Juvenile Court in terms of the Children’s Act

Frustrated HIV Patient Bathes Nurse With Acid

Could this be rightly described as a carry over aggression or arrant madness? This is the question on every lip begging for an answer especially the staff of Rivers State School of Health who were taken unawares Friday, October 21, 2011 in full public glare as an HIV patient bathed his counselor, and staff of the health institution, Mrs Ibuwari George in acid.

The HIV patient, a youngman in his late forties (name withheld) had arrived Mrs Ibuwari George’s unit for further counseling on the effects of his drugs, having called earlier to notify her of his coming for a chat not unrelated to his perceived deteriorating condition.

Unsuspicious of any ulterior motive, Mrs George, counselor for HIV infected mothers and children willingly agreed to the request. But little did she know that the patient’s humble request was anything but holy.

Upon arrival, the patient according to Mrs George began to complain that his health was failing him, which Mrs George advised was nothing to worry about so long he kept taking his drugs, promising that his system would soon get used to the drugs. What a psychotherapy and professional advice that fell only on the deaf ears of a dying man.

Prior to this unholy visit, the patient was said to have been calling and complaining of same feeling to which the innocent nurse had counseled him to keep faith with the prescribed drugs. He had earlier been certified sick with very low blood count after a test was conducted on him which prompted his being placed on drugs for boosting etc.

Three die after church HIV cure claims

At least three people in London with Human Immunodeficiency Virus have died after they stopped taking life saving drugs on the advice of their Evangelical Christian pastors, the BBC reports. 

The women died after attending churches in London where they were encouraged to stop taking the antiretroviral drugs in the belief that God would heal them, their friends and a leading HIV doctor said. Responding to the BBC question on the issue, Lord Fowler, the former health minister responsible for the famous AIDS awareness campaign of the 1980s, condemned the practice. 

"It's just wrong, bad advice that should be confronted," said the Tory peer, who chaired last month's House of Lords committee into HIV. Jane Iwu, 48, from Newham, east London, described one case, saying: "I know of a friend who had been to a pastor. She told her to stop taking her medication - that God is a healer and has healed her."

"This lady believed it. She stopped taking her medication. She passed away," said Ms Iwu, who has HIV herself. Meanwhile, the director of a leading HIV research centre in east London said she had dealt with a separate case in which a person with HIV died as a result of advice from a pastor. 

"I've only seen that once, but it has happened," said Prof Jane Anderson, director of the Centre for the Study of S*xual Health and HIV, in Hackney. "We see patients quite often who will come having expressed the belief that if they pray frequently enough, their HIV will somehow be cured," she added.
