But Ugo was using the motorcycle for Okada without rendering any account to Obioma. “Unknown to Obioma, Ugo has found a woman with whom he would spend the rest of his life.

Pastor commits suicide in Ogun For nursing an unhealed wound for too long

Daily sun gathered that before the pastor took his life, he had asked his wife to represent him at a Parent Teacher Association meeting of one of his children. Before his death, John was said to have been troubled that a wound he sustained at a sawmill in the town refused to heal after several months.

A neighbour of the late pastor, who spoke with Daily Sun on condition of anonymity described the deceased as jovial and humble. He said, “As a neighbour, I was shocked to hear that Pastor John took his life with the excuse that the wound he sustained early last year refused to heal.’’ He added that initially, he did not believe the story until he got home and the reality of the pastor’s death dawned on him.

“His death is still a source of concern to me and I have never thought a man like that, who always preached the words of God to people, could take his life.” The deceased pastor was said to have taken his life by making a noose round his neck, tying it to a ceiling fan in one of his rooms. It was further learnt that nobody knew about the dastardly act until the pastor’s wife who had represented him at the PTA meeting returned home and raised the alarm.

14 Year old boy hangs himself.

A 14-year-old primary-six pupil of the Adukro D/A Primary School at Abrome, a suburb of Boamang in the Afigya Sekyere District of the Ashanti Region, has killed himself.

The deceased, Augustine Antwi Boasiako, reportedly died after hanging himself on Monday afternoon at about 2:30, shortly after returning home from school.

Boasiako, according to sources, was discovered by his elder brother, hanging on a crossbar with a sponge tied around his neck in one of the rooms in their family house.

The deceased, who was not dead yet, was said to have told his elder brother to tell their mother that he was travelling and that he should bid her farewell on his behalf.

Upon receiving the message, the mother, DAILY GUIDE learnt, suspected foul play and therefore rushed to the room only to discover her hanging-son almost dead.

Alarmed by the horrible spectacle, the mother raised the alarm which attracted people, who subsequently carried the class-six pupil to the St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso.

Mr. Agyenim Boateng, a teacher in the town, told DAILY GUIDE the boy passed away two hours after arrival at the hospital in spite of the massive efforts the medical personnel at the facility made to save him.

He said the deceased had told some of his classmates earlier in the day that he would kill himself due to the false allegation his mother had levelled against him.

Mr. Boateng noted that the mother of the deceased, on the morning, had come to the school to accuse the deceased of stealing her GH¢10, an allegation the deceased categorically denied.

According to him, the deceased confessed in the presence of some teachers that indeed he had stolen his mother’s money before but he did not have any knowledge about the latest incident.

In spite of that explanation, the teacher indicated, the mother insisted that her son had stolen the money and therefore castigated him in the presence of other pupils.

Mr. Boateng said the deceased remained quiet till school closed only for information to be passed around a few minutes later that the deceased had hanged himself and had been sent to the hospital.

Even while I'm dying, I still want Facebook': Taiwanese woman, 31, kills herself live online on Facebook

Friends of a Taiwanese woman pleaded with her not to kill herself as she chatted to them live on Facebook, giving them a running commentary of her own suicide.

But not one of them alerted the authorities as Claire Lin, 31, told them she was inhaling poisonous fumes.

Police in Taipei said her final Facebook entries show her chatting with nine friends, describing her gradual asphyxiation.

One picture posted from her mobile phone shows a charcoal barbecue burning next to two stuffed animals. Another shows the room filled with fumes.

Police officer Hsieh Ku-ming said today that Miss Lin took her own life on her birthday, March 18. Family members reported the suicide soon after her death but were unaware of the online conversations that accompanied it.

One friend, identified as Chung Hsin, told Miss Lin: 'Be calm, open the window, put out the charcoal fire, please, I beg you.'

She replied: 'The fumes are suffocating. They fill my eyes with tears. Don't write me anymore.'

Her last words, written in Chinese, were: 'Too late. My room is filled with fumes. I just posted another picture. Even while I'm dying, I still want FB [Facebook]. Must be FB poison. Haha.'

Miss Lin's chilling messages indicated she was unhappy because her boyfriend was ignoring her, and had failed to return home to be with her on her birthday. He found her body the following morning and alerted her family.

Mr Hsieh said he regretted that none of Miss Lin's friends called the police for help during the 67-minute episode.

But he added: 'It could be true that it would be hard to track down a Facebook friend without her address or phone contact.'

Chai Ben-rei, a sociologist at Taiwan's Feng Chia University, said the incident reflected social isolation in the internet age.

'People may have doubts about what they see on the internet because of its virtual nature, and fail to take action on it,' he said.

A severely obese 10-year-old girl died because she was too overweight, an inquest has heard.
Shannon Appleton-Gower, who had learning difficulties, was found not breathing in bed at home by her stepfather last November.

The inquest heard that Shannon died from acute cardio-respiratory failure, sleep apnoea and acute pulmonary hypertension - all caused by her weight.

But her stepfather, Dominic Stringer, said Shannon lived an active lifestyle.

He said: 'She was a bubbly character and although she was overweight, she was a very active girl.

'She was outgoing, she was not shy in any way and I would describe her as a bubbly, bouncy little girl.'

Shannon, who lived with her mother Susan, older brother and stepfather in Diss, Norfolk, was found dead shortly before 1am, on November 24, last year.

The inquest heard she was receiving medical help for her health problems and sleep disorders, related to her weight at the time of her death.

A 105-year-old woman who survived the Russian Revolution and two world wars has committed suicide.

Anastasia Khoreva told her family she was tired of waiting to die shortly before hanging herself, The Sun reported.

The pensioner, from Darsun, Russia, had been depressed after suffering a lung infection.

A family member said: “It’s a strange thing to do at her time of life but she used to say she was fed up with waiting for death – so she wanted to go and meet it.”

Last year experts warned the number of Russians committing suicide was dangerously high.

In 2010, the suicide rate was 23.5 per 100,000 people, the sixth highest in the world. It hit a peak of 42 per 100,000 during the 1990s, following the breakup of the Soviet Union.

A recent UNICEF report stated the country has the third highest suicide rate among teenagers aged 15-19 , with around 1,500 taking their own lives every year.

The highest rates are in neighbouring Belarus and Kazakhstan.

Autopsy Reveals – Wole Olumide Did Not Commit Suicide, He was Strangled To Death

Late Egba chieftain, politician and architect, Apagun Wole Olumide did not commit suicide as is being circulated in media spaces but was rather strangled to death at the artificial lake beside the Golf resort Hotels, according to the result of an autopsy carried out by the family.

Apagun Olumide died on Friday in a manner that has been speculated as suicide, after excusing himself from his driver only to be found lifeless in the lake hours later. His remains, recovered by local divers, was intercepted by the Police on Saturday morning and later deposited at the morgue of the Neuropshychiatric Hospital Aro, Abeokuta.

However, divulging to us the details of the autopsy released on Sunday, a family source said the late right-hand man of former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel, was strangulated to death.

“Information at my disposal reveal that the Egba High Chief, Chief Apagun Oluwole Olumide, whose mysterious death has kept tongues wagging, was actually strangled to death,” wrote the source, who discussed with us solely on the note of anonymity.

“According to the autopsy report just released this evening, and which is being kept secret by family members ahead of his planned burial, the late Apagunpote of Egbaland was strangled in the neck.”

Apagun Olumide was buried in his house at Ita-Eko, Abeokuta after a brief and dour ceremony attended by such dignitaries as former governor of the state, Chief Gbenga Daniel; former Power and Steel Minister, Alhaji Sharafa Ishola and other top government functionaries. He was interred at exactly 3:45pm.

Until his death, Wole Olumide, an architect, was the Apagunpote of Egbaland — a chieftaincy titled he held with glamour and was respected for. He was also the chairman of the hotly controversial Golf Resort Hotels, alleged to have been employed by the former governor to siphon state funds. And as a right-hand man of Daniel, he has been fingered in allegations of looting of Ogun State’s funds in past years and he has allegedly been implicated in the ex-governors hunt by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

Suicide: The Apagun Olumide I knew, by Daniel

When two people quarrel it is not with the mind that one of them should die). That is the Yoruba adage on the lips of many heavy weights in Ogun State in respect of the death of Egba high Chief, Apagunpote of Egbaland, and chairman of Golf Resort Hotels said to have committed suicide, weekend

Immediate past governor of the state, Chief Gbenga Daniel, has also described the death of Chief Olumide as an irreparable loss to Ogun State and Nigeria. Daniel said:“On the death of Apagun, I do believe that our state and our country have lost an icon and a major promoter of tourism, entrepreneur and economic development of our people and of Egbaland in particular”.

His predecessor, Chief Segun Osoba, was so sad about Olumide’s death that he said: “It’s too much for me to bear now. It is not something I am ready to talk about. It is too much and most unfortunate. I leave everything to God.”

TO both ex-governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel and his predecessor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, the death of Apagun Oluwole Olumide, an Egba High Chief is a terrible loss.

The two men worked closely with the late Apagun in his tourism efforts when they held sway as governors of the Gateway State.

Daniel recounts association with Oluwole

According to Daniel: “In fact, I am tempted to rate Apagun as a modern day Lisabi or Sodeke when I consider some of his silent but very effective contribution to his immediate environment.

“As Governor, Apagun as he was fondly called, encouraged us to do a lot of work in Abeokuta. Together we conceptualised the development of Olumo Rock as an International Tourist Centre that it has become today. Together, we conceptualised and developed the new Lalubu Road as our own ‘Broad Street’ and commercial nerve centre in Abeokuta.

Late Apagun Oluwole Olumide and Otunba Gbenga Daniel

“Together, we conceptualised the new Abeokuta Central Business District, which we christened the Abeokuta City Centre and he actually designed and supervised the new OPIC Plaza, the tallest building in Ogun State and second tallest in the old Western region, next only to the Cocoa House in Ibadan.

“All these pale into insignificance when we evaluate his contribution to the development of Abeokuta Golf Course, the Waterfalls, Hotel and rather ironically the Artificial Lake, where Apagun died yesterday.

“For Apagun, the Golf project was his life probably in the last two decades or more, and through this project, he became the single biggest promoter of tourism in the state by the volume of high networth individuals that visited the state while it lasted. Nationally, Apagun designed the National Ecumenical Centre, rated as the best Christian Worship Centre in Abuja.

“On occasions like this, all we can do is pray that God in his infinite mercies will give the family the grace and fortitude to bear this great loss,” Daniel said in the statement.

Meantime, Chief Olusegun Osoba, also a former governor of the state and Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, chieftain, was among callers and sympathisers who thronged the golf resort where Olumide ended it all at the weekend.

Reacting, Osoba, who was ostensibly shocked, described Olumide’s death as “unfortunate”.

It’s too much for me to bear now. It is not something I am ready to talk about. It is too much and most unfortunate. I leave everything to God,” the former governor said. Family members, associates, policemen, fire fighters, officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and local divers were also seen at the place.

Mr. Ikemefuna Okoye, the newly-posted Commissioner of Police in Ogun, who was also at the resort, confirmed the incident and said investigations were going on over the incident.

According to reports, the dead body of Olumide, a close associate of Daniel, was found in an artificial lake by local divers at a Golf Resort that he promoted.

Plunging into artificial lake

Olumide was said to have plunged into the artificial lake, shortly after returning to Abeokuta from the Lagos Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

The deceased was also quizzed two weeks ago by EFCC operatives in connection with controversies surrounding some of his investments while the State Government had also ordered the demolition of Water Parks building in Abeokuta, belonging to Olumide.

The high chief, who was the lead consultant to the Abeokuta Business District project under the immediate past administration, was quizzed two weeks ago by operatives of the EFCC reportedly in connection with a controversy surrounding the hotel.

Before his ordeal at the EFCC, the deceased had a running battle with Governor Ibikunle Amosun who ordered the seizure of his investments and business interests.

Amosun had seized the 150-room Golf Place Hotel, Abeokuta, and revoked its Certificate of Occupancy, saying the land on which the edifice was built was illegally acquired.

The governor, who also revoked the title documents of the golf resort, took the decision following the recommendation of the Ogun State Judicial Commission of Enquiry on Land Matters headed by Justice Abiodun Akinyemi.

Amosun had also on his first working day ordered and supervised the demolition of Water Parks building in Abeokuta belonging to Olumide.

Woman Kills Self And Shoots Kids After Being Denied Welfare

A mother who had been denied welfare benefits killed herself and shot her two children after a seven-hour standoff at a government social services office, police said.

The children, a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, were in critical condition Tuesday, Laredo police investigator Joe Baeza said.

The standoff began around 5 p.m. Monday afternoon. Baeza said the woman was speaking with two employees when she pulled out a gun and said she wanted to speak to a supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, he convinced her to let the employees go in exchange for keeping him.

Meanwhile, about 25 other people were moved to safety, police said.

Police negotiators stayed on the phone with the woman throughout the evening, but she kept hanging up. She let the supervisor go unharmed around 7:45, but stayed inside the office with her children. After hanging up the phone around 11:45, police heard three shots, and a SWAT team entered the building. Inside, they found her body and her two wounded children.

The 38-year-old woman had recently moved to the area from Zanesville, Ohio, about 30 miles east of Columbus, Baeza said. She told negotiators about a litany of complaints against state and federal government agencies. It sounded like she had been denied services several months ago, Baeza said, but it wasn’t clear what specifically triggered Monday’s standoff.

“This wasn’t like a knee-jerk reaction,” Baeza said, adding that the woman felt she was owed restitution of some sort.

The children were “very critical” and unconscious when taken from the scene, he said. Their names, along with the name of the woman, were not released by police.

Maid Filmed During Beating Kills Herself

An investigation has been launched in Lebanon after an Ethiopian housemaid committed suicide a week after video was aired of her being dragged through the street and abducted.

Ethiopia's consul general said Alem Dechasa killed herself on Wednesday, a week after the LBCI television channel played amateur footage of her being lifted off the ground by her hair and forced head-first into a car.

The horrifying footage sparked national outrage in Lebanon.

The consul general, who saw Ms Dechasa on Tuesday, said she had been taken to hospital in order to recover.

The Lebanese cabinet condemned the violent incident and ordered an investigation into the matter before Ms Dechasa died.

But the campaign group Human Rights Watch (HRW) is calling for a wider investigation into the ill treatment of domestic workers.

It also wants to know why there appeared to be no follow up into Ms Dechasa's case after she received hospital treatment.

HRW director for Beirut Nadim Houri said: "Obviously her death is a tragedy. What makes it a bigger tragedy is that we think it could have been prevented.

"Her case is not unique, unfortunately, in Lebanon. In the study released a year-and-a-half ago, we saw an average of one death per week of migrant domestic worker in the country, often they commit suicide, so it's a broader systemic issue.

"So first, we need an independent investigation into first the ill-treatment of this woman and, secondly, why she was not properly followed up when she was transferred to Deir al Salib to get proper treatment."

The video showed a second man helping a first one as he forced Ms Dechasa into the back of the car whilst she screamed: "No, no, no."

After the video was aired, LBCI used the car's licence plate number to identify one of the men.
Activists in Lebanon posted the man's contact information on social media sites and demanded he be sued by the courts.

Mr Houri said taking the case to court would help highlight the extent of the problem and its prevalence.

The bullying allegedly began when Eden was in the sixth grade, becoming more intense last year, and eventually tipping her over the edge.

Halfway through the seventh grade was when it started to get really bad,’ Audri told KATU News.

‘The bullying just kept getting worse, and I kept telling her I’m going to do something, I’m going to do something, and I should have done something.

Student Commits Suicide Over a divorcee.

DISTRAUGHT over persistent calls to end a relationship with a woman older than him, a third-year student of Bodwesango Senior High School in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti region has hanged himself.

Peter Akom aka Amakye, a General Arts student, took his life on Sunday night in his friend’s room at Bodwesango.

The tragic death of the 19-year-old has left his younger sister, Joyce Akom, 16, devastated as she continuously scratches her head for answers and blames their mother, Abena Nyamaa, for Peter’s death.

The boy’s body, which was hanging by a sponge from a ceiling made of wood, was discovered by his friend, who screamed to attract people to the scene around 7:00 pm.

This is the first case of suicide to have hit Bodwesango Senior High School that has maintained a low profile.

Abena Nyamaa, mother of the victim, stands accused of nagging her son over his relationship with a 26-year-old divorcee, Yaa Manu, leading to his death on Sunday night.

She was said to have raced to Bodwesango from Asikaso, a village in the area, to quarrel with her son on the day in question following misinformation relayed to her.

Abena Nyamaa said she was informed that Peter Akom was getting married to Yaa Manu without her knowledge and against her wish, but the information turned out to be false.
